1.) 2005 - backpacking n the Pisgah National Forest (NC) while in college (Go Vols), myself and some buddies saw lights or “orbs” over the area around the Devils Courthouse and Looking Glass Rock. Recall watching them - then it was the next day. Where we were to where camp was - was a good 30 min walk in the dark. Zero recollection and it seemed camp was in some disarray. 2.) 1988-89, I was 5 or 6 and recall playing with the neighbors and watching what looked like a balloon fly by but it wasn’t. I recall parents in the yard : neighbor’s yard looking at it too. My dad was an aviation fan and had no idea what it was. Nashville and East TN had sightings then. 3.) I grew up surrounded by battlefields and Indian burial mounds. The house my parents built was on land that saw tragedy in both the Nashville and Franklin campaigns. Plus the mansion on the adjacent land was a field hospital for both sides during the war. There is some seriously spooky shit that goes on. Carton Plantation is another one. Never run so fast in my life. |

I've posted this before, and even posted a photo here once, but this is an unexplainable thing that happened to my grandma. My aunt Michelle died of gallbladder cancer about 10 years ago, and the color of that particular cancer ribbon is a light minty green. My aunt actually was an incredible woman, who faced her fears and very bravely checked off many items on her bucket list. She had made peace with her condition and found strength in The Lord. Shortly after she passed, my grandma was sitting in her recliner, no doubt thinking about her daughter, when she felt something lightly hit her in the back of the head. She found a mint green colored plastic ring with an angel on it. There is absolutely no explanation where this ring came from. My grandma keeps a very tidy house and doesn't accumulate "stuff". You'll have to take my word for it that there truly is no explanation for where this ring would have randomly fallen from, hitting my grandma in her head. I even went so far as to put the pic in chat gpt to see if its common on a consumer product or something, but came up empty. It is truly bizarre. My grandma takes it as a sign that everything is OK with Aunt Michelle. That ring is proudly displayed on grandma's fireplace mantle. |

| In part I started the poll because I've seen a sharp ramp up in the number of people willing to admit to having seen something "impossible" in my day to day interactions with people. For example, an older lady that I know recently mentioned seeing a skyscraper sized UFO more than forty years ago. However, there have been a good number of others. Two guys I know admitted Bigfoot sightings recently. I've actively asked people about odd phenomenon for 20+ years so it isn't like I'm asking more often. |

I don't believe in little green (or grey) saucer men, but I have seen some sort of flying craft that unclassified modern technology did not explain. I'm not sure what I believe about ghosts, but I've seen some weird things I can't explain on multiple occasions, particularly in a house I used to own. My wife was completely convinced the house was haunted, for lack of a better word. Voted yes. |

2013 - Just moved to Florida from New Mexico. Was a flight medic for a long time as well as a FD Paramedic, so I never really learned how to have deep sleep. I could literally hear anything and it would wake me up no matter how soft or low it was. Renting a house and about 3 months after moving in around 2am, I heard my bedroom door open (we slept with the door locked but it made a distinct noise when opening) and heard foot steps, very light and walking very slow. I opened my eyes and was trying to see what it was and all I saw, at the foot of my bed was a dark shadow, vaguely humanoid but no distinct features. Literally, just a dark shadow. I could not move and could not make a sound, profoundly disturbing. Id say about 10-15 seconds later, it was gone and I could move. Wife was dead asleep in bed door was closed and locked. Happened exactly the same about 8 months later. Moved into another house (not because of this) and it has been 13 years and never happened again. |

| I had an experience with Night Marchers at Kaena point on Oahu in the early 90s. Saw torch lights coming down the side of the mountain, heard the drums then heard chanting. We didn't stay after that. |

My younger brother took his life when he was 18, nearly 40 years ago. I have his Zippo lighter, but I don't smoke. I find it in different locations throughout the house, every few months - in the junk drawer, buried at the back of a bathroom vanity drawer, sitting on a cubby shelf in the bedroom, in my toolbox, basement workbench, etc. Occasionally, I'll snap it open and give it a flick. Sometimes, it lights! I know you're watching me, Mark.

Ghosts, I've related some of both in the past, just one of several ghost experiences. I was renting an apartment in a house on a college campus. There was just the upstairs apartment, the rest of the building was meeting rooms. One evening, I was alone watching TV, and heard the clatter of shoes on the stair way just outside my door. The stairs were a grand staircase from the front of the house and a stairway to a side door. My apartment door was on the upper landing for both sets of stairs. I opened the door to see what was going on and was greeted with a silent and dark house. The house had and has a reputation for being haunted. UFO's, I was camping out on the back patio with some friends in the mid 60s. Early in the evening, before any one arrived I noticed some unfamiliar "stars" over head. I was enough of an amateur astronomer to know these two stars didn't belong in that location. In the wee hours of the morning we were awake watching the sky. These two stars were the width of an adult hand apart when held at arms length. With out any notice, one of the stars moved towards it neighbor, circled it, and went off to the north west at some speed. The other star then moved slowly off to the south west. One of us said,"Did you see that!" The was the time when the Gemini program was active and the astronauts went up for 4 days and returned. I don't believe there were any astronauts in orbit at the time, what happened was, to my knowledge, well beyond any human technological ability. These stars had been in one place all evening, I probably noticed them about 7:30 pm, it was summer time, these things were very bright. I tried to get my dad to look but he didn't seem interested. |

Ghosts. I worked at a bakery at night. All of us that worked there saw something. Lots of things in the corner of your eye. Things falling for no reason. People walking into the office that aren’t there when you go to see who walked in. My boss thought one of the girls was going to walk into him so he tightened up waiting for impact and nobody was there. Radio stations never being in tune. There is a large cemetery across the street. I did a midnight delivery to a hospital. I was loading my car and saw a black mist like thing that went up and over the back of the building. The neighbor, Jets Pizza also had weird stuff happen. Before that my buddy and I work together and saw a black mist shaped like a person that floated between pallets of stock and lifted up in the air and dissipated before it hit the ceiling. |

Ghosts many times from my earliest memories to roughly 3 years ago. I consider myself to be sensitive to such things because my experiences have convinced me of that. See my posts in the ghost thread. No Bigfoot. No demons that I know of. I saw a very strange airplane thing in the sky when I was very young. I wouldnt call it ufo because they were planes. Ive had very strong unexplained feelings in places/situations without it being a "ghost encounter". I kinda lump that in with paranormal stuff. |

Never experienced anything, but not for lack of trying. I've been stationed where these things are supposed to happen and I've seen some really cool tech, but never saw anything that was unexplainable. I've worked nights and still do and spent hours looking at the night sky just hoping for literally anything to happen, even through NVGs. No ghosts, demons, angels, aliens, UAPs, any of it. Always wanted to, even as a kid. I lurk around here because I keep hoping someone will finally have something that makes me say "wow!" but haven't seen anything yet. Guess I just don't have the gift. Although now that I think about it, I had one "vision" a long time ago where I stood before the throne of God and a friend of mine next to me was in shock looking at me, but nothing since then. I still hold on to that one as a sort of "guiding light" for lack of a better term. I'm extremely skeptical by nature but always looking for evidence to disprove my skepticism. |
I have never had any neat experiences like those described.  I did have a friend who lived in a very old house where strange things happened. Their living room had three different doorways entering into it and they decided to close one up. Her mother collected little porcelain figurines so her dad closed up one of the doorways and put a bunch of shelves there. Once or twice a year all of the figurines would be sitting on the floor unbroken when they got up in the morning. She (my friend) actually carried a polaroid in her purse showing them sitting neatly on the floor. That was pretty cool. |
It's as if a big chunk of our adult population has lost the ability to tell the difference between what is possible, and what is probable.

I’ve seen many unusual things in the sky most of my life but the strangest encounter was the video that Chose me and especially my dog crawling up on my chest one night and downloading his love into me and then a second download of some sort I still don’t know what it was. I think either my mine was being played tricks on or an alien entity of some sort took over my dog that night. I was fully awake when this happened. I saw my father up in the corner of my bedroom one night right after he died when I was 11. But until the video and dog thing I’ve lived a normal life never giving this stuff any real thought whatsoever. When I started watching videos about Giza and elsewhere is what got my curiosity up and sometimes I wish I hadn’t. |
| I've seen weird shit my whole life. A lot of it I think I can explain away, some of it I can't. I've seen a ghost, shadow people, and a couple UFO encounters but I am nearly 100% sure now those were military aircraft being tested. I've never seen a demon or evil spirit as far as I can remember, but I've definitely been in situations where something dark is trying to scare or affect me, usually at night. |

I've seen and experienced a few strange things and I've probably posted them on ar15.com before. I've never had any UFO/UAP experiences, mostly ghost type stuff and an incident back when I was a LEO where I almost went in a gas station on duty but got a strange feeling that I shouldn't go in. It was almost like a voice was telling me not to. I found out a few weeks later that a man in the store saw me pull in to the parking lot and he pulled a pistol out and told the clerk he was going to kill a cop. I found out from my aunt that she and my grandmother had a ufo incident on their rural farm many years ago. I learned about it just before she passed away during covid and never got all the details. If you enjoy family history don't put off conversations with your older family members. |

This is ultra important. I spent almost a year getting stories from my mom and typing them in, she was born in 1923 and died in 2015 so there was a whole lot of history she was around for but never spoke about really since people get jobs and their own family and the parents and aunts and uncles are just sitting around and nobody is prompting them for a story so it isn't until "end of life" diagnosis that they have a rush to try and record what they've been through since the world has changed radically from when they were young. From my mom carrying a lantern while walking to school so she could be found in the dirt wind storms to only getting rations during WW II, which were a lot compared to what they had money to eat during the Great Depression. The average person knew nothing about politics beyond being told what is in effect, like social security and Revenuers becoming the ATF once Prohibition ended. It was so easy for those in charge today to do whatever the hell they wanted with no repercussions since nobody knew and if they knew there weren't phones easy to contact anybody about and writing was also slow and form letter replied and ignored. Then I see in this forum from various videos about the locations around Cusco in Peru and they have oral history going back over 1500 years despite archeology putting them at bein there for only 800 or something, I forget details but there's a wide chasm between what archaeologists say how the megalithic buildings were built and what oral history says. Egypt has similar problem, except the other way around, where they're claiming stuff they didn't do while around Cusco they're claiming the sky Gods built and left them, they do not get credit for building them, only maintaining them. So, TL;DR Remember to call an elderly family member each weekend and ask them to tell you a story. Record the phone call and have it transcribe to text. Different areas have different "institutional memory" but some things are constant and it's fascinating compared to the pop culture "history lessons" on TV. |
