I cannot get the thumb drive maker's (Lexar) software to function properly. It does not lock the drive. The user manual is absolutely terrible and is worse than what's on the screen when the app opens. There is no HELP function, either. Is there any free, downloadable software that will password protect or encrypt this thumb drive? |

That's what I use. I've been using it since April 2006, it was Truecrypt than. I also have a Veracrypt encrypted container on each computer that unencrypts into a drive that has anything I care about someone getting in it. Among othere things, Firefox and Brave have their data folders on it (Firefox is trivial to change the date folder location from default, Brave not so much but you can and the method for Brave also would work for Chrome) and Thunderbird, my email program, has it's data folder on it. I learned that lesson the hard way. I came home from work one night in April 2006 and found our house had been broken into. One of the things they got was my laptop off the kitchen table. I spent till 6:00am the next morning trying to remember what all was on it and changing passwords. I must have got them all as I never had anything that was gotten into but I said never again. |

Right click on the drive in explorer > Turn on Bitlocker > Set password to unlock drive > Then everytime you plug it in, it will prompt you for the password. P.S. Windows Pro and above only. Don't know if this works on home. If you have home, veracrypt, or Rohos Mini Drive |
