This video makes me chuckle. The same things they were scaring us with to sell more expensive refrigerants was "fixed" but now all of the exact same cycles continue but they were called Global Warming and now Climate Change. They never told people that the hole cycles, it was just when they launched the first satellites to look down over the poles, they saw a hole and immediately panicked and screamed about Antarctica. It's gotten small and it's gotten bigger but none of the dire predictions never come true, we're supposed to be 200 ft underwater by 6 years ago by 1990s propaganda. IOW, Scare people with Weather changes, this forum knows it but it's strange how many still think so and that makes me wonder if there's a Mandela effect with how big of issue it was, maybe big city vs rural, not sure. This thought brought about by the video below. I do NOT agree with this guy, however. Refrigerants are very large, heavy molecules that sit pretty close to the ground due to their weight. Irony of ironies, most are eventually degraded/split to smaller particles by UV reaching the surface. The whole "One Molecule of Freon is enough to make the Ozone whole 50 feet bigger!!!" exaggerations are why we can't trust shit, it's all an agenda. Nobody has an idear? Does anybody not think it's propaganda, and for those who see it as propaganda, which other pseudo-existential threats have we faced before? Was Korea (flimsy Casus belli ) and/or Vietnam one of them? Was Eisenhower correct with the MIC keeping us in continual war? |

Strangely there was this giant environmental crisis right when the patents were going to be running out on the old refrigerants... Constant replacing of systems caused more environmental damage than the refrigerants ever could have. There's no reason to rip out a whole A/C system from a home or commercial facility just because it uses R22, or from a car that uses whatever. Halon was banned, couldn't buy a little extinguisher of it, when it was the Air Force that would dump 500 or 1000 pounds of it in training. They still have a massive supply of it in the "strategic halon reserve". Probably done more damage with all the development and testing of all the replacements that have been proposed and deployed instead of just continuing on with the already known stuff. Just had another phase-out of one of the replacements, all those extinguishers got removed from service, guess what will happen to them. Most of them anyway. |

Fun fact- CFC's and tetraethyllead were invented by the same guy. Thomas Midgley Jr. Not the greatest legacy of inventions. LOL I always wondered about the whole CFC's are ending up way high in the atmosphere and wiping out the ozone theory. Things are usually way more complicated than they seem. Tetraethyllead on the other hand is nasty stuff and Mr. Midgley spent a lot of his career telling folks not to worry about it. Even as the workers that were exposed to it got sick and died. |

Lead was a trade off to have engines that lasted to at least 50k miles. They didn't have the metallurgy to work without lead at the valve seats. We're seeing it again now with gas Direct Injection engines, valve seats getting fouled and contaminants not cleared. All sorts of snake oil added to minimize it bu there's not a solid solution. It's not ht exact same as the lead solution back in the pre-80s, but DI is looking bleak. The VW Diesel emissions problem is fixed by adding a little fluid to it which burns and fixes the emissions tests, nothing else, just to pass a test any ou need to buy a new bottle of it from dealer every 15k or 20k miles, I forget. I liked their earlier solution of detecting they were in an emissions test facility and did things by the book, but once out of it they agave the customers the power and mileage they desired. I don't ever dig against VW/Audi for using that loophole and getting away with it for half a decade or more. The public was either kept in ignorance due to complete control of the media, or fed a lie about it, again, from complete control f the media. Newsletters and call in like art bell were the only places squeaks could make it out. |

Benjamin Franklin developed a significantly more efficient wood burning stove with less ash and soot that clogged his beloved Philly air. He didn’t patent it because he wanted the world to benefit. Same with his gas street light design. It have a venturi style design, meaning the glass didn’t get sooted up like in London. So others took his ideas and patented those variations, most far worse than Franklins.
