I have an Omega that needs service. Been a LONG time and I tried to wind it and it doesn't want to wind so guessing whatever. Got a quote from Omega to go to one of their Boutique stores for $1200 PLUS any parts they feel it needs and 4 months turnaround. Got a quote from the dealer I got it from for $400 PLUS any parts and much quicker turnaround. It isn't a super collectable or valuable watch but I like it and do want it to run properly. Is a local dealer that claims to have their own watch mechanics likely to screw it up or am I good to go? Dealer is EDmarshall

This is one of several watch repair / service companies that have been recommended by the members here: Nesbit’s Fine Watch Service I don’t have personal experience with them yet. I think Omega watches are one of their specialties. I trust that others will chime in with other recommendations. |

I'll echo that manufacturer service isn't always the best option. I have an X-33 that I only send to Omega for dealer service, but only because it is a bit unusual and many horologists don't have the parts to service it. I also have an 863 Speedmaster that I just send to my local guy for service because it is a pretty typical chrono. EDIT: I asked a buddy who has had a Planet Ocean serviced by Nesbit and he was happy with the result. |

Thanks guys. I chose Nesbit because they replace a lot of parts as standard service. And I'm pretty sure it needs them. Watch is 20 years old and spends most of it's time on a winder. Which doesn't work very well I need a better winder cause it is always dead on the rare occasions I wear it. I will report back when I see the results. |

I got mine serviced at Omega and they did a terrible job, came back in REALLY bad shape. not keeping time at all, way off. I had to send it back. If I were to do it again, I'd go Nesbits. |
