Has anyone seen a batch of Oliva 2nds lately? Of all the 2nds I've smoked only two or three were poorly constructed or bad, so a $3 second beats an $8 banded smoke any day of the week. I assume that they only release batches of seconds periodically but does anyone have an inside scoop? |

I’ve picked up a couple of Connecticut wrapper Toro size (~6 x 50) bundles from CP when they were available. They’re not bad- just smoked the last one from the first bundle one last week. It had a little too easy of a draw, but I didn’t have a cigar cutter with me, just a pocket knife, so I might have cut little too much off the end. Haven’t smoked any from the newest bundle yet. ETA: Sorry, I forgot to respond to the original question. No inside scoop, I guess I’ve just been lucky, and they’ve been in stock when I’m shopping for other inexpensive bundles.

| I've bought 3-4 batches of Oliva 2nds in the last few months, all maduro. 75% are worth what I paid, there are definitely some duds in there and I'm unconvinced these are "seconds", I think they wrap a cheap line to sell under their name just like outlet malls aren't selling the same items as the stores under those names in normal malls. They're worth the risk I put into them, but I really don't think these are related to a factory-first Oliva and missed the QC cut somehow, I think it's a separate line that is wrapped strictly to sell as 2nds. |

Man I started this thread 2 years ago. As it happens I was running low and found the seconds on sale last week. Two bundles of 2VM and a bundle of 2MAD showed up at my house today! But thank you! |

I picked up some of the “Nub Nudes” (Oliva) from Cigar Page, but haven’t smoked any yet. They were said to be the usual Nubs, but the story was that Oliva was awaiting arrival of the bands and maybe other labels, and CP bought up a bunch of them. I’ll try to update once I’ve tried a few. They did offer them at a good price, and claimed they were regular ones and not seconds. |
