A friend of a friend gave me a pair of old pilot and co-pilot seat frames from what he thought were from an embrair regional jet. He glued some foam rubber on the backs of the frames, but everything else is bare metal. My question is… where can i find a set of seat cushions for these frames? Ive thought about trying to cobble something together out of lawn furniture cushions, but I don’t have a sewing machine, then covering them with car seat covers or something. Thoughts? Ultimately I just want to make them into man cave chairs, maybe on rolling bases or something. Honestly they are actually pretty comfortable without cushions, but I haven’t tried them out for more than a few minutes. Thanks, Indy ( actually really close to CVG ) |

Do you have a part number from the seats? If they are from an ERJ-175 I might be able to find the part numbers for the cushions, but you'll likely end up paying big money for serviceable parts from an actual vendor. |

| Call an aircraft salvage yard. That's the only way to get anything cheap. Otherwise go to an upholstery shop and get a quote. It will almost certainly beat the price of anything you will find elsewhere. The rule of thumb in aviation is to come up with an estimate of what you think it should cost and then multiply it by 5x. That's what it will cost +- 1x. |
