I've been shooting with the Z50 (DX crop) for a while, love the light weight and colors it has straight out of camera. Don't love the crappy auto focus, which has been an issue since the camera came out due to the old sensor they used. Now that Nikon has the new Z5II (FX full size) coming out in soon, thinking about stepping up into the full frame game. The specs and reviews I've seen so far looks very promising for an "entry full frame" camera at $1700 for the body. Has anyone looked/researched/considered picking one up? If so, what are your thoughts on it? I mainly shoot birds, wildlife and some architecture for hobby. Nikon USA Z5II |

I think you'll be happy with any of the Nikons that have an Expeed 7 processor in them. It does a much better job handling autofocus than the Expeed 6. I'm not looking to buy a Z5II, but I am thinking about trading in my Z6II for another lens, or maybe a Z50II. Honestly, I should probably just calm down with the camera gear. It's low light shots with the Z mount lenses are awesome. The Z5II is a smaller version of the Z6III. There are only a couple of major differences between them. One is the Partially Stacked CMOS Sensor and the other is a little better EVF. There are some smaller differences. But other than that the Z5II does most of what the Z6III does but at a much cheaper price. It's also smaller and lighter. The Expeed 7 processor is faster than 2 Expeed 6 processors. It's way better than the auto focus on the Z50. "I mainly shoot birds, wildlife and some architecture for hobby." One of the auto focus features is "birds". It does an excellent job of recognizing and locking on to birds and wildlife. |
