I know it doesn't seem like much, but this rack cut my time to find a piece of raw material by 90% over stacking material on shelves. Vertical storage allows sweat from temperature changes to drip off instead of gathering where they touch and staying put. Now I can sort through my 12" to 24" long stock in a few seconds to find just the right piece. Attached File Attached File The little upper rack is a couple years old. It's dedicated to shorter and smaller stuff. |

Proof of concept. My buddy and machinist mentor came over to cut up some half inch by four inch aluminum on my Precision Matthew's saw. I put it in high and it was around 30 seconds a cut. Crazy fast. He asked me if I had sone half inch by three quarter inch steel for a project he is working on. It took me a solid 10 seconds to put my hands on the material. It was AWESOME! lol! So nice..... |

I made a huge improvement on my old stock rack. I removed the front of the divider at 5 ft. I used top T brackets and a single L bracket to stiffen the 2x4 divider. It's about 80% easier to pull material out of the rack. The 2x4's did eat up a lot of space but over all it's pretty nice. Attached File Attached File The dividers were added into an existing set of shelves, rather than ripping out the shelves. I just added dividers. I just removed the front of that part of the shelf. |

Heres the steel we bought
