iPhone not an option. Wife and I both need new phones. We are Samsung people but with the cost what it is, we are looking at the Google pixels. Do you have a pixel? if so how do you like it over the Samsung series? |

| I've had many Samsung phones, most recently I had the Note 20 ultra. After several years I switched to a pixel 9 and I wish I hadn't. Samsung phones are much more user friendly, the pixel has changed the screen layout on its own several times with different updates, and it's fucking annoying. Stick with Samsung imho. |

This is what I was wondering as strangely my current phone is the note 20 ultra. My 2 issues are prices are just dumb, amd to get it free you have to trade your old phone in. I hate trading in any tech. Thanks for the input |

Considered it but again 2k for phones is just dumb. I looked at them hard and but purchasing options are just so limited. |

Prices aren't dumb when you consider the tech put into them. And the amount of time spent on them makes them one of the easier investments to justify in my opinion. I traded in my 22 Ultra on this Fold 7 and got it from 2k to 1200. I think that's quite reasonable. But to each their own. It's nice having a phone and tablet with me at all times. Way easier to scroll Arfcom.

Been running samsungs for some time since note 5 I think. My lucks been pretty good, managed to break the screen on one a few years back when it was in my pocket when i fell off a ladder though the screen cracked i used it for a few more months. I'm pretty happy with my S25 Ultra, came from the S22 Ultra I got when it was released battery life was starting to fade. I traded the s22 in and the s25 only ended up costing me less then 300 with tax. I've contemplated a pixel the last 2 times I upgraded just to get rid of manafactuer bloatware, but everyone I know who's gone google always goes somewhere else after.

For Samsung phones, I would look at the Fan Edition models as they are significantly cheaper but great features and quality. So look at the 23, 24 or 25 models labeled as S24FE. Price to value is pretty good in my opinion. |

I had all the Samsung Galaxy S models from the first until the Pixel 6 Pro came out and I switched to that. I used it for 3 years then switched back to the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and couldn't be happier. The Pixels are fine if you don't mind being a beta user for Google. Many times updates would break my Google wallet and I wouldn't be able to use my tap to pay for days or weeks until they would release a patch. That would be a huge inconvenience at the gas station or baseball/football games. When it comes to the Android OS/environment the Galaxy S phones are Tier 1 phones. |

IMHO the pixel OS is the cleanest interface and lacks a lot of the apps Samsung unnecessarily packs on the phone. I think OneUI has some neat features but the more basic interface to me is better. I also see Pixels getting software updates more quickly versus all the work other providers have to do to incorporate releases from AOSP to their OS versions. Samasung makes really nice hardware and snapdragon is faster than tensor but how often do you tax your device like benchmark software? Lastly, I’m considering GrapheneOS because I don’t feel my data is anyone’s concern but mine. I’ve moved entirely to proton for all services (mail, password manager, cloud storage, vpn). I don’t use tons of apps and at this point you can just use PWAs for most things. If I’m not mistaken pixels are a bit cheaper as well. Have you thought about a good considering used device from Swappa or another source? |
