Well, been debating a new bike for a while.  Will be 70 in a couple of months and after dealing with another Alabama summer and a couple of heat related issues on a couple rides I decided to get a e bike.  It’s taking a bit to get past the ego. But opening your eyes and having friends all looking at you and asking if you’re ok is a clue.
So I brought home a specialized creo comp yesterday. Got 20 plus miles on it yesterday. Stayed in eco mode most of the ride and hit sport on a hill. Thinking I’m gonna like it just need a little bump on longer rides to keep up with the younger riders.

If I saw that bike, no way I would know it was an eBike.

Stay safe and enjoy young man.

One of the ladies in my riding group has one, she loves it, and she can blow by me now if she wants.

Keeping the Roubaix or unloading it?

I’ve been looking at e-bikes for a few months. We ride our bikes mostly while camping, and like to explore new parks  that way. I’ve been focusing on the foldable options due to being able to store in the truck bed.

Yours looks great and surprisingly like a normal bike. Are you happy with the pedal assist modes? What brand is it?

Definitely keeping it. Don’t need a e bike for the25 mile fast and flat rides.
Now the 50 mile 200’ of elevation rides is Saturday , that’s different.

Specialized creo comp. Super quiet motor. So far I spend most of the time in Eco mode, hit sport on hills. Have not really tried turbo. Bike weight is@31 lbs.
My goal is to use the same amount of effort, just a little faster and  take the edge off climbs.

Please tell me you missed a zero on that elevation gain?

Reminds me of a friend of mine who is insane. I asked him once what his greatest ride climb was. He said, I dunno, 4,900'? I said damn, barely had me beat, I'm 4,800'. He said really, where did you find a hill that large...he was literally talking a SINGLE climb. Somewhere in Colorado.

Same guy does 12 hour stints of "hill climbs" on his bike. Will ride up and down the same, super steep hill outside of town, and repeat it, getting tens of thousands of feet of climb. It's wild. He blows me away without raising his HR above 120, and he's 20 years older than me.

Tonight was on the Roubaix. Our standard Thursday night ride. Not much elevation, decent pace for a bunch of 65 year old.

That is a good pace! We are usually low 13s when I ride with a group... We usually do 50-60 miles and I think most are 50s and 60s. I'm the odd man out at 37 but they are nice people and I'm not good enough to keep up with the young people so I just take it as mileage and get harder workouts in myself.
