Yes, I need tech help. My 12 y.o. son is attending computer code school this summer. I fell asleep and he hacked my cell phone. Whenever I type certain letters or combinations of words, my texts automatically change to say "I'm am noob" see what I'm talking about? Also, "I'm stupid" and im a noob... dammit. Also, sometimes rainbow pride flags. Noob could... damn! I could get mad, but I want to be him at his own game. Thanks for any help. @Subnet et al. How did he do it on my android phone, and how do I stop it? |

First, review these instructions to determine which keyboard you're using. Next, review these instructions to see how such text shortcuts are added, which will give you some insight into how to view what's already been defined and how to remove the problematic ones. Then, temporarily turn off the service on your son's cell phone, to remind him who the final boss is. |

Channeling my inner 12yo Change his notifications and sounds so his ring tone is something obnoxious from your generation. Like Barney's song "I Love You" would be my pick, at full volume. Alarms set for 2am. 2:05, 230 or random times ![]() Group chat with al his friends contacts declaring him the King of Noobs (or something similar) and mute that chat so he doesnt see their replies until its too late. Change the home wifi password and create a guest network for just him and neuter the bandwidth until he apologizes.

Are you paying for an allowance or his camp cost? Hand him a piece of old tech paper that says ''you are broke and the bank of Dad has been closed until future notice.'' |
Liberals are a curious mix of communism and fascism, they want to destroy you but want to use your own money to do it.
I'm getting down to the last box, the others have all been destroyed...

| He didn’t hack your phone, as posted above, he just added some additional customization to your custom dictionary. |
I wanted a mission, and for my sins, they gave me one.

I think most of those are out of his wheelhouse. |

Back when I lived in an apartment, I was one if the first wifi networks in the building. This is back before routers enabled security by default, so open networks were the norm. I did some routing/proxy magic and had some fun with sed and mod_rewrite. Most pages would load over wifi .... sorta. Jpg's got replaced with goatse. Blink and marquee tags added at random. Words and letters got removed or replaced. Hidden iframes would pump out unpauseable midi songs. I'd vpn back into my desktop over wifi and it'd route me around the rewrite engine. Going through the logfiles was amusing. DHCP request, DHCP lease. Google, yahoo, aol dns resolution... and a whole bunch of hello.jpg requests... then traffic would stop and I'd see the client drop wifi. Much harder to do now with doh/dnssec/https and all the active shit. |

Step one. Ground him and punish him. Playing along with him just re-enforces the bad behavior. If he's going to do this to you know, wait until he figures out how to get into your bank account, or someone elses. And for the love of god, put a security lock on your phone so he nor anyone else can get into it. NOOB |

You get more of what you incentivize............. so if you want the kid to go and do tech stuff, then you will have to play victim or better yet, start learning and hitting him back (technology speaking). My son and I do this. My employees and I do this. Little tech games, tricks, sabotage, pranks, etc. It keeps everyone sharp, but you MUST have rules. No one outside the group gets affected. No customer gets hit. Nothing that you would not want brought up in front of everyone (nothing vulgar, explicit, or rude). Nothing destructive. Nothing that takes more than 5min to clean up or undo. No leaving traps and then leaving site (or shop or home). My son loves to set booby traps in my bathroom........ 4am brushing my teeth and 100 plastic spiders fall out of the medicine cabinet. I throttle his wifi to 50kB. He deploys and electronic cricket in my room and I start disabling his online accounts or signing him up for online spam. Play the game. It is the modern/autistic version of a hug. TT |
