Sorry to hear about your situation.
While I have seen many successful placements here, generally I am the guy providing resouces, as needed, to help facilitate the move.
That being said.. follow these steps to maximize the opportunities here.

1. General Discussion: it's THE place to get exposure. Cross post in Joker's rescue forum in General. Also cross post in the Hometown( State) forum.
GD should be your PRIMARY.
The "pets" forum does'nt get much traffic and will likely never be seen by the majority of members here.

2. Pictures: Write up a detailed post about the dog to include background/ habits/any training/etc.
The title of the post should be some variation of " GSD needs help, new forever home"
POST LOTS OF PICS. Not ro be crude about it but you are advertising for a home.
People want to see what you are offering.
GSD's are an Arfcom favorite. The right adoptive family is likely here, they just don't know it yet.

3. Be responsive: follow the thread closely, bump it to keep it near page 1 as GD tends ro move fast.
Immediately dollow up in any questions/ inquiries.
Do not assume any question is casual, your response to a request for additional info may be the one that gets the deal done.

4. Do not assume that distance is a deal breaker:
There is an underground railroad od sorts here to move dogs rontheir new home. It has performed miracles in the past.
Backstopping that are people like me that will move the dog by air ( FF mile donations) if required.
Expenses can be handled by this community if need be.

5. While you are doing the above, make contact directly with breed specific (GSD) rescues in your state and all adjacent states.
Get the dog on their radar.

6. Last but not least:
Don't think you are the first person here need help rehoming a good dog.
It happens regularly and by and large, this place comes through.
