Headed to Yosemite and Redwoods in June Currently have 2.8 16-55 and 4.5-6.3 70-350 What else do I need? Seems like an ultra wide could be nice for landscapes ? |

I have a Sony A6600 with Sony 10-18, 18-200, 70-350, but I recently replaced my Sony 18-200 with a Tamron 18-300, for my needs the 18-300 Tamron is well worth it because I don't have to change lenses as often; many times for me changing lenses is a miss photo, introduction of dust & debris into my camera, and also another possibility of dropping something. I like zoom lenses because sometimes it is not practical to stand in a locale for fixed focal-length lens, and I am willing to sacrifice a bit of sharpness etc for getting the picture or video. BTW(1) Sony had discontinued their manual 10-18 and replaced it with a 10-20PZ version, which costs and weighs more; & 18-200 zoom lenses BTW(2) for those of you who have Sony cameras, and you use non-Sony lenses, you will be limited in your burst mode to 11fps. For me, 11fps is more than adequate; but for those of you who want to shoot for example in-flight birds, 11fps maybe a bit too slow. |

My travel set is 16-20 24-120 70-300 Plus the GoPro for super wide stills. And a travel tripod. That gets me just about every photo situation I might find myself in. The 200-500 sometimes goes, but it’s a hassle to fly with. The set above easily fits in a backpack with Tenba inserts, lash the tripod to the side, and you’re in carryon heaven. |
