My boss' kid was accepted into the US Naval Academy and will be heading to Annapolis at the end of the month. I've known the family for going on 15 years and the kid is a good kid (straight A student, volunteers in the community, varsity athlete, etc.) and I wanted to get him a book as a going-away gift. Can you recommend good US Naval history books or biographies by prominent historical Naval personnel? He very much desires to be a Naval Aviator, if there are any navy combat pilot biographies out there. Thanks! |

Just finished Shattered Sword: The Untold Story of the Battle of Midway. Using primary Japanese sources, the author reconstructs the battle from their POV. Incredibly detailed but never drags. Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors is the truly epic story of Taffy 3. |
