He just turned 16 and was over due for a shell pack upgrade for his acoustic set. We'd mostly focused on his e-kit until lately. It's a Tama Superstar Classic 7-piece maple with the black sparkle wrap. I spent a lot of time debating between this and the Starclassic line - but I couldn't swing the price difference for an equivalent pieced kit and at the end of the day, I wanted a kit he'd enjoy and not have a lot of angst about hauling it around for gigs, etc. Christmas should address the cymbals - leaning towards Koide, probably their half-turk line (for sentimental reasons). Here's the kit, not fully set up or miked, but test fit on the riser.  |
