Well, isn't this a fine kettle of fish.
  My reading for today. The AML series of cars are absolutely fascinating. A minuscule sized vehicle (5.5 tons for the 90mm version, 4.5 tons for the 60mm version ) that packs a 90mm gun or 60mm mortar and an engine barely bigger than the one in my corolla and half the size of the one in my 4runner. |

Since I have power at the shop (aka huuuuge daisy chain of electrical cords) it’s time to paint stuff. Starting off. Wire wheel, shop vac, and degreaser (brake cleaner).  Now cleaner, just enough for hammerite.  Now paint   Much better but could use a second coat  Hammerite smooth dark green is NOT a color match for the original paint. It’s much closer to British military green than the OD of the original Czech/Russian paint. It’s going in all the high wear areas to keep it looking nice/nicer and stop any rust spots from forming. Hammerite can be applied with a minimal of cleaning and prep and with a brush. Handy for someone with no air compressor or paint experience. |

I started this morning about 10ish. Painted the front right right, back right, and 3/4 of the back left one in addition to cleaning out a lot of the little hidden areas that did nothing but collect oil, grease, and water. Ended at 2200. I still have another day and a half of painting to do. Burned through a can and a half of hammerite today, once I order it from England it takes 2-3 weeks to get here. Need to order a bit more. I have my bulgarian contact looking for marker flags, canvas covers, axle seals, and carbs. |

Operation BRDM: Revenge of the Benpire is in full swing. In an effort to make myself more self sufficient I ordered some 11 ton jack stands. 4 of them, and a 22 ton air/hyd jack. I will be expanding my collection in the future, these might come in handy

My unit got it's first FMTVs around 1998 timeframe. TAD 6th Trans Battalion. We're the ones that supported the 88M BNCOC and ANCOC schools, as well as TOBC . |
