I was honestly hoping this day would never come...we are at the local shopping mall, Northpark in Dallas, a very fine place, wife is picking up her new Zimmermann dress, a real stunner! So, we always at least window shop the watch stores...well today we are both wearing TAG so we pop in to the TAG boutique, meet the new manager, have a nice chat, she's looking around..."I like this one..." I waltz over...the manager says, "Oh yes, the Carrera Senna Tourbillon, a limited piece..." Ugh...waaaaaaay outside of today's wallet zone...a quite impressive piece though, I will say, it did *not* follow us home but I did enjoy / appreciate looking at it. We discussed some upcoming limited edition USGP-specific pieces they have coming up, etc... Anyway, the gist - wife had never seen a tourbillon and I had hoped she never would...the entry into that world is OUCH... :lol:

LOL I knew this would be a fun one!! Yeah, not my favorite….wait, what time is it? It’s hard to see, a lot going on, for sure! Generally curious about this - I don’t sense a lot of love for TAG, something I’ve sensed from many folks, not just here but out and about… I don’t give a crap either way as we all like what we like and why we wear what we like…for those that are not a fan of TAG, what specific reason? In other words, show me on the doll where TAG touched you…? Ha! Retail on this piece is around $38-40K from what I recall. I hear ya on the depreciation of most of their pieces. These limited edition pieces don’t seem to be as bad, but their “normal” tourbillon pieces do drop like a rock! I would consider one of those on the secondary market. |

I will say that we’re celebrating my recent cancer eviction / all clear surgery and having fun along the way, so there’s that!! I should be around for a few more years…! CCRCC - clear cell renal cell carcinoma - ie - kidney cancer is GONE! Still recovering from the surgery a few weeks ago - look like I’ve been gutshot with buckshot but five holes are absolutely ok compared to the alternative! |

It’s not that they are bad, but just not that they are great. |

Appreciate your input - equating that to other watches - and to what many folks would consider “luxury” - the malls I frequent also have ADs for Rolex, IWC, Omega, Breitling, Hublot, etc…. Even our nearby “outlet” mall has a jeweler with at least 40 used Rolex pieces….but that mall also has a plethora of Citizen, Bulova, Casio, Movado, etc retailers. So there’s that. I see TAG as having a mix of very attainable pieces (like that of Longines) as well as higher end if you want it along with pieces in the middle. A huge motorsports influence (ie Monaco, one of my faves!) so that is very important to me. A lot of other brands do as well. |

Most people seem to have pretty good luck with them too, from what I've read. I own a few Sugess watches and am very happy with them, but mine just have simple Seiko mechanical movements in them. I'll probably try one of their tourbillon models at some point down the road. For me it would probably be more of a novelty and conversation piece than anything else. This is one that I like. Quite traditional in design compared to that tag monstrosity! @pctech: Yes, thank you, I've seen a few of the chi brands that are interesting! I actually quite like what you've posted up there...and of course....it's SOLD OUT!! LOL!! Right, figures!? I really like the white face with blue hands / indicators, very nice, classic! Wearing my TAG Monaco today...it's a monstrosity in it's own right! LOL!! |
