Compare that to "God spoke to me, and said I'm in charge. Thag and Grog are my fellow priests. Thou shalt no steal, kill, or commit adultery. If you do, you'll go to hell and suffer for all eternity. And God is ALWAYS watching."

Which of those controls social behavior better? The first one? Nah. You, Thag, or Grog has to catch me. The second one, obviously. It's an absolute leash on behavior, especially when you couple it with a reward for behaving correctly (Heaven).

Now, let's imagine that God is an advanced alien species that came here and engineered humanity to be what we are (which could be argued that it makes them a bunch of fuck-ups as far as alien engineers go). When they leave, and the people they left behind don't have the understanding or vocabulary to describe them properly, it could easily be imagined it would revert to religious belief as opposed to scientific understanding. Hinduism with multi-armed blue gods, Egypt with animal-headed gods, Christianity with multi-headed angels and wheels within wheels. Eyes? Nah, lights around the circumference of the craft.

I'm not here to shit on religion. I'm agnostic, and I'll never tell you your god doesn't exist. I can't. But there's a lot more potential rational explanations for existence than "omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent being made everything." Lovecraft said it best in a letter he wrote to a friend.

"If religion were true, its followers would not try to bludgeon their young into an artificial conformity; but would merely insist on their unbending quest for truth, irrespective of artificial backgrounds or practical consequences. With such an honest and inflexible openness to evidence, they could not fail to receive any real truth which might be manifesting itself around them. The fact that religionists do not follow this honourable course, but cheat at their game by invoking juvenile quasi-hypnosis, is enough to destroy their pretensions in my eyes even if their absurdity were not manifest in every other direction."

If you simply set everyone on the path of the truth, everyone would come to the same conclusion, and we wouldn't have up to 10,000 religions on Earth (even if 10 or so dominate the actual numbers).

God could be God. Aliens could be God. The programmers of the simulation could be God. A lot of other things could be... God.

Again, just food for thought, especially in light of whatever might be disclosed in the future.

That is the truth regarding control and with any new information or person around or "event" from cake sale to baseball game, The Church knows all, those who go, those who don't, they know where you went when you didn't show up to the thing you signed up for...  People joke about Scientology spying on you, they've got nothing on many other and far old religions.  If people don't volunteer the info to the church, the church will just ask anybody else and odds are they'll both tell the story and tell the person to not be a problem for "The Church" (The families will talk!!!!).

Just going back to pre-Broadband Internet and the wold looks a lot differently, too many people connected to others only thought the screen and the throw it out option don't work since they've successfully turned your phone number into you social security number and use it for primary ID, along with email address..

I feel like i need one of those 6th generation fax machine warnings about how  the government  is going to be controlling people in the future.

Problem with that is, I think it was better the other way with the mutually assured social destruction or whatever  if that was the change.   Most humans aren't qualified to order lunch without errors.
The person who complains most, and is the most critical of others has the most to hide.

All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

What you’re saying is people who were fluent in both Hebrew and Greek during that time are wrong in their translation, but someone thousands of years later is correct.

Except that story is exactly that, a story... a legend passed down from the very religion(s) it supports. There's no proof that actually happened beyond the story that it did. It's the equivalent of saying "the Bible is true because the Bible says it's true." It's a circular reasoning logical fallacy ("Begging the Question").

"King Ptolemy once gathered 72 Elders. He placed them in 72 chambers, each of them in a separate one, without revealing to them why they were summoned. He entered each one's room and said: "Write for me the Torah of Moshe, your teacher". God put it in the heart of each one to translate identically as all the others did."

That's pretty much it. And it assumes a lot, such as that the twelve tribes were still extant in the time of Ptolemy.

So... yes. Modern scholarship might be given more weight than a self-confirming legend and logical fallacy.

Even if you don’t believe the story of the 72 people translating from Hebrew to Greek, it was still translated!

We can use modern tools on the internet to verify the Hebrew to Greek translation today, so it doesn’t matter if that story is true.

All translations today come from original text. When there are discrepancies between different manuscripts, the Bible has footnotes to document those differences.

But, again... the only "proof" of those texts being "true" is the text itself telling you it is. The logical fallacy is the same.

It's fine if you believe, that's your prerogative. It's also fine to have a closed mind and be unwilling to question those beliefs. Not saying you do, but if that's the case, it's still your prerogative.

For clarification, I’m only referring to the trustworthiness of the translations of the Bible. I didn’t say everything was true. Only that we can trust that what we read in English goes back to the original source of Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic.

Now if we believe what those texts say as true is a different story. I was not arguing that.

Fair enough. Now ask me which I trust or believe in more. 1.2 billion Hindu people believing in their sacred texts (the Sruti and Smrti), 2 billion Muslims esposing the Q'uran, Hadith, and Sunnah, or 2.6 billion people believing in the Bible as you do, despite there being innumerable divisions in each and every one of those three religions.

You know that the gods of Egypt were worshipped for a thousand years more than Christ, yes? And started three thousand years earlier?

We won't even get into the thousands of other religions that exist today, or that existed in history, despite their antiquity, longevity, or number of adherents.

Just because you believe something, doesn't mean it's true. Literally billions of other people have and do believe differently. Right now, and many thousands of years in the past. Every one of them thinks they know the truth.

NONE of you do. To even think so is the height of human hubris. If there is a god, or God, or gods, or Gods, and they somehow created reality and guide it, to think that any single belief system is the "one, true, and only" path to them is nothing but pure ego. That's YOU, and those who decided what you were supposed to believe, not the word of god/God/gods/Gods.

I'll never tell you there isn't a creator. There could be. There is no disconnect between science and religion, unless you choose to create one. But to think your religion is the only true one... man. The hubris involved in that. The thousands of years of wars and innumerable deaths caused because of it. The shame that should fall on every shoulder.

I can't even begin to imagine it.

Especially when our existence might be the result of a species that evolved a few million years before us, the blink of an eye in cosmic time, and decided to play around with genetics on a planet they found, for whatever purpose. Even that doesn't mean "God" doesn't exist, since they would've been the originator of the entirety of reality. Including every other species in the cosmos.

Thinking we're somehow special is just more hubris.

All those billions, from the beginning of time until today, have believed in a God (or gods) by one name or another, from the most isolated primitive tribe to the most brilliant rocket surgeon.  Coincidence?

The oversimplified response would be that its not a big leap to think that people would try to explain their existence and the unknown around them through god(s)

Personally I think all religions are holding threads of spirituality that we lost long ago, there is a communion with something that mankind has been searching for before the written word.   I think we found it long ago but it was lost to the passage of time and progress.

It's impossible to argue against belief. No matter the evidence or logic presented, belief will overcome all of it in a person's mind, regardless of it's validity. That's the very nature of belief.

So you're right on one very fundamental thing. This conversation, as countless others before it, will go exactly nowhere. You have your reality, I have mine, and the two won't be intersecting any time soon. Unless "disclosure" happens to amount to something other than vapor, and we're presented with some form of incontrovertible proof. Even then... you'll likely deny it if it's incompatible with your beliefs.

I won't go into any detail, so as to not spoil the movie but I really enjoyed it!  Much more than I expected to, based on the trailers and what I had heard about it.  The two hours and forty minutes went by in a flash.  There's some really good acting and the story line really resonated with me.  There were some scenes that were overwhelming, but I don't know if that's just because Spielberg is a genius or because I've been so invested in this subject for so long.  During one scene, I found myself close to having a panic attack.  Pretty intense!

Highly anticipating 1 pm getting here today!  Sounds like it’s going to be a huge blockbuster.  Even though I don’t have any extra to spare each month and it’s a med I try not to and never have doubled up on, I’m bringing and extra Oxy just in case I need it to sit through the entire film.  Sounds like it may keep my attention though so hopefully I won’t need it.  This will be the first time going to the movies with my wife since going I think in 2001 to see one of the Fast and Furious movies which at the time I thought were awful.
Actually come to think of it I think both us and the other couple that came with us got up and left before the end of the movie and went and ate instead it seemed so bad at the time.  I enjoy them a bit more now but they still aren’t really my thing.  And I was still into fast cars and drag racing back then.

I’ll leave this here and see what some think about this after viewing the film.

I Have No Idea Why People Were Excited About This:

This film isn't about awakening humanity to our cosmic neighbors or suppressed tech. It's about preempting and distorting the real conversation so people chase Spielberg's emotional rollercoaster instead of demanding unredacted documents, whistleblower testimonies, and military admissions.

Spielberg is not some innocent dreamer. He's deep in the Hollywood machine that's long been a hub for compromise, trafficking adjacency, and narrative weaponization. The same elite circles tied to Epstein networks, ritual symbolism, and bloodline influence use figures like him to shape culture.

His films have always blended genuine wonder with subtle programming wonder as distraction, fear as control. "Disclosure Day" is no different. It targets the current wave of real UAP momentum (Pentagon reports, whistleblowers, congressional hearings) by giving it a polished, fear-tinged Hollywood wrapper that makes true disclosure seem chaotic or terrifying.

The Cabal communicates through these symbols  one eye, inverted motifs, religious overlays to signal to their own that the narrative is being managed. They showed you all this in the promotional material.  The Cabal can't help but tell on themselves.

Luckily, our tickets were purchased online via Fandango and are instantly refundable up until showtime, minus a $5.00 "convenience fee".

Well I’ll say this about it.  It speaks the truth about what is happening rfn!  There were only 9 people in the theater which for me was wonderful!

I posted a video of 2 aliens like the one in the end in the other long article and video thread you might want to check out if you haven’t.  It may be legit.

This is my honest take.  I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and the time did go by pretty quickly.  Thankfully it ended just in time before I was about to piss myself and I didn’t want to get up during the movie if any way possible.  I know it was a Friday work day for most but for only 9-10 people to be in the theater for the first showing (2nd actually since one started at noon) was rather disappointing although like I said earlier also for me refreshing not sitting in a crowded theater and having most of the place to ourselves.  But unless someone drops something absolutely undeniable in terms of proof I don’t see this as the blockbuster everyone is hoping for.  It’s certainly no E.T. Or Close Encounters but I know it’s not meant to be.  Be curious to see the numbers this weekend.

Oh there was a UFO that sure looks like one depicted in a UFO chart floating around on X and FB and it’s not the one they showed in the clouds.  Anyone else catch that?

I went to see Day of Disclosure today.  First, I was surprised that there wasn't more people in the theatre.  Don't worry, guys, I won't give anything away. The movie itself was pretty good, although it was a tad slow in the middle.  But overall I did enjoy the movie, especially the ending.  Acting wise, Emily Blunt was just ok (sorry, just being honest).  Colman Domingo did an excellent job and was perfectly cast for the role.  And Colin Firth played his part well.   As for it being a Steven Spielberg movie, Close Encounters of the Third Kind still tops this in my opinion.  Should you go to see it?  Absolutely, especially if you frequent this subforum.

This is very Spielberg related so I’ll put this here.  Starting around the 7 minute mark confirming he’s an insider or sorts.

Apparently a few of the scenes in Day of Discovery ruffled the feathers of a Catholic priest who does Exorcisms (and has done alot of different interviews on podcasts like the Shawn Ryan Show).  I'm not giving away any real spoilers, but there is a scene where a nun refers to the book of Genesis and infers that aliens may come from God.  There was another five second scene where a character gives the sign of the cross and starts to bow to Emily Blunt's character.  One of the characters is a former nun too so there are scenes about that, but I didn't get an strong anti-religion vibe myself (I'm a born again Christian).  My faith in God or Jesus Christ will not be shaken if an alien ship lands.

A Tennessee Roman Catholic priest is making a wild claim that “demons can be attached” to movies in response to comments from Steven Spielberg on his new alien film “Disclosure Day.”

Spielberg, the famed filmmaker behind hits such as “E.T.” and “Saving Private Ryan,” has been promoting his new movie and told CBS News recently that the film could raise serious questions for viewers of the Christian faith.

“The movie also takes the position of the church. What does this do to the fundamental beliefs that many of us have?” Spielberg said in the interview. “Is God, our God, only on this planet, or is God a God for every system where there’s civilization, intelligent life and even developing life?”

That speculation did not seem to sit well with Father Dan Reehil, a priest and exorcist with the Diocese of Nashville. In a Wednesday Youtube video, Reehil said the director’s remarks are “odd.”  “Why would you make a movie with the distinct outcome being people’s faith would be shaken or lost?” Reehil asked. “That seems very much like something the Antichrist would do, or Satan.”

Spielberg has not explicitly said he intended for the movie to shake up Christian faith. Still, Reehil went on to suggest that the new movie could be cursed.

“One of the things that comes to mind is that the movie itself — I’m not saying this is what was done, but this could be done — the movie could be consecrated to Satan, and demons can be attached to the movie,” he said.

At the same time, why would a major newspaper make a huge headline trying to scare people of faith away from the movie?

So the movie isn't that great, they don't do movie reviews as major stories outside their movie section.

I'm guessing that most of the people who flip past that story don't even know or care,so who are they trying to influence?

If somebody you barely know comes to you out of the blue and says about a girl you barely know "That girl bad news, don't go near her!!" with some thin reasoning, what would you assume their reason to approach you to say that was?

I agree.  This is almost like telling Christians don't watch any horror movie because it could cause you to become possessed.  The movie Day of Disclosure doesn't claim to be a documentary, but it seems some media are reaching with the doom and gloom claims.  I guess they couldn't find anything else to report.  At the end of the day, movies are there to entertain audiences.  Some people miss the most basic premise.

I saw it yesterday, nothing in it shook my faith. As for demons attached to the movie, I did wake up startled last night from a dream. What I remember from the dream was the face of the alien. Not saying demons are actually attached to the movie. Just an observation. I don’t normally remember or wake up from dreams.

Also a few other Christian themes from the movie. These powers came from the aliens and not God.

I thought it was just OK. It seemed kind of like a propaganda piece, disguised as an alien movie, that was actually an action movie. Some of the Easter eggs were fun. I was hoping for more.
