I replaced the axle on my M101a2 trailer with an axle-less one from Timbren. Its lighter, allows for tires matching what I have on the 4Runner so I only need to carry a single spare, has electric brakes and parking brakes like the original. Nice. Those 101s are great off road trailers (if a bit "Heavy") Does the new kit / springs retain the old load capacity? Bigger_Hammer

Bigger_Hammer The new suspension is rated for 3500 lbs. One benefit was removing the axle. I don't know how much it weighs but it's very heavy. Removing the surge brake assembly lightened things up even more. I replaced it with a Lock-N-Roll hitch. |

Going over something at speed isn't as much of a shock. Any driving I have done with it so far was with the trailer empty. We will be in Colorado in a few weeks, and I may get a chance to test it out a bit. |

| I can't tell you how often I consider doing this and then talk myself out of it to do a Dexter axle swap instead because it'll be cheaper. How long would you say install took start to finish? Did you end up welding that support crossmember in place or is it bolted too? Also what offset wheels are you running on the trailer and how flush is it to the wheel arch? |
