Thanksgiving night I had to put down Reese. I'd gotten her from Mark in the spring of 2021, she was ~7 at the time. She wasn't perfect, but she was a great dog and we'd gotten much closer after the death of my other pup in the fall of 2022. We'd been fighting a bloody urine issue for about a month, LOTS of tests, labs sent off, etc - nothing definitive. Monday before Thanksgiving an ultrasound found a large mass in her abdomen impacting her bladder and colon. More tests sent off for lab evaluation... By Tuesday evening she couldn't defecate any more. By Wednesday evening she couldn't urinate any more. Thursday got bad by mid afternoon so we went to the vet ER and the mass had grown more and signs of cancer moving into chest were seen. No good prognosis or treatment options that seemed worth putting her through so I had her put down.   The house just felt wrong and empty with no dog - I haven't been without pup(s) in the house in 14 years. So I reached out to Jordan and Semper Fi to see if any available pups looked like they might be a good fit. On a trial run with this girl. 2-3 yrs old, sweet and friendly, but certainly has some areas to work on due to her background. Fingers crossed...

I'm so sorry for your loss! It's always rough. I remember Reese from a few years ago. I'm glad you have her a good life for the time she had left. Good luck with the new pup! I'm glad you're still keeping with Mark's legacy and working with Jordan. I've gotten another dog from her,and recently helped a friend do the same. |

Liked the name so pilfered it  Sorry for the late post but I think I have the Reese you are thinking of. I got him in August 2021. Mark had got him earlier in the spring. He was in bad shape. When Mark saw him he said “come with me if you want to live”. It’s a line from the movie The Terminator spoken by the character Kyle Reese. Mark named him Reese and I liked it so he is still Reese today. He is one of the best dogs ever and a real joy to be around. |
