| First, I would like to stick with a Canon. I have quite an investment in EF mount lenses from the days of Canon 10D technology, I would like a full frame sensor camera. I know there are adaptors for EF-S mounts on cameras with APS-C sensors, but have no experience with using the older mount system on newer cameras. So my question is what is my best option for a new camera body that can use EF lenses to the fullest? |

What’s your budget, Top of the line canon Ef mount bodies are the 1dx mk3 and the 5d mk4. These are both older cameras now but still are fully professional camera bodies. If you want to adapt your Ef lenses to a new canon rf body, that’s also possible with a simple adapter. New rf bodies - from base to top tier models R8 - base model full frame good value R7 - this is a crop sensor, but it has a really set of nice features for the price if you can make the smaller sensor work R6 - probably the best value to feature ratio R5 - probably the best all around camera, high mp, high dollar R3 - cool features, mostly unnecessary unless your a real pro R1 - top of the line camera, all the features and performance |

You need to define a budget. Big difference between a $1,200 camera, a $2,400 camera and a $4,000 camera. The Canon EOS R6 mkII is about as good as you can get for the price, $2,400. It brings most of the necessary features that one would need for general photography. If you already have a bunch of EF glass you can get the EF to RF adapter for about $200. The EF lenses work fine. The EOS R6 mkIII is supposed to be released soon, so it might be worth waiting to see what it brings and what the price is. But you should be able to find good deals on gently used or refurbished R6 mkIIs also. |
