I have a thermal that allows me to stream to coax, and I have a composite adaptor (rca) I can plug into old tube tvs, like below (my pic) Attached File I think it would be cool to get one of those older battery powered tvs to stream it to. I found a cheap Chinese action TV that fits the bill perfectly. Composite. Battery powered. Plug and play. Attached File But it looks cheap and dumb compared to these guys, the Bentley and Panasonic ranger. Attached File Attached File These however don't have composite. They need a rf modulator running to a 3.5 adaptor. Which requires power. Which then requires a power bank. Some guys mod these things to put a power bank on them or atleast strap it on to be less cumbersome. Anyone messed with these? Is there a good option out there that is composite and battery powered? Black and white is fine. |

CRT's eat batteries. You'd be better off with a more modern display. You can get adapters for anything. I suppose part of my reasoning is the 640 resolution thermal looks better stretched onto crt vs lcd. And im guessing its similiar to the older consoles that look better on tube tvs. And I think those old little crts are kind of cool. Now that theyre gone im a little nostalgic about them. Think thermal on it would be neat. I know some guys run them to power banks to extend the life. Going to keep exploring the tube tvs first just to see what I can make work. I found one of those bentleys for 26 dollars new in box. Then bought a power bank and rf modulator. Heres a Pic of one with the power bank and rf modulator on top of it. Im then going to 3dp a stand for the thermal and strap it to the TV, with some wire management for the thermal cable. Get some rechargeable D batteries and let er rip. Eventually when im feeling adventurous, I think ill convert the tv to have a 12v DC plug and put a power bank in it where the batteries currently are. Attached File Attached File |
