One of my cousins is a superstar softball player and I shoot her games frum time to time. Wanted to try something different, so brought the boat anchor and hooked it on the D3s. Prettty fast focus, but it's a heavy old school tank, but if you're looking for a decent 300mm f/2.8, it's hard to beat the Tokina.

I was expecting a picture of the lens  I will have to look into it, as currently my lens menagerie only goes up to 200mm (but for the moment, even a 'cheap' lens will have to wait, as I just recently splurged on refurbished Nikon glass to complete the 'holy trinity' for my also-just-splurged-on refurb D850 body). |

Here it is on my D3s. The G2 is on my D500. The Tokina front opening is huge, along with that lens hood. 😅 Ken Rockwell does a nice write up on the Tokina. Great lens for very little money.
