I've gotten kind of burnt out on Battlefield 6, so I'm looking for another distraction. I'd really like a good post apocalyptic survival game WITHOUT zombies, with some level of crafting, building etc. Sort of like if they took the Tarkov universe and made it open world survival and crafting, etc. I've tried a bunch of the zombie ones but they just don't hold my interest much. I've played a lot of Rust years back but its a little too cartoony for me now. I appreciate any suggestions, thanks. |

| I recently started The Last Caretaker, on Steam. The premise is earth is flooded (think water world) and all humans have evacuated to space. You wake up as a robot with a ship and sail around to surviving infrastructure searching for resources and material to send to space. Trying not to spoil storyline too much, but it’s been fun. Ni zombies. There are biomechanics enemies. Still in early release, with a good roadmap for more content over 2026. |
Imagine how smart we could be if there were no such thing as warning labels.

If you don't mind a simpler interface and more text-based stuff, check out Neo Scavenger. There's mods for it that greatly increase on the base building and crafting mechanics, since a base is meant to be more temporary in the base game. If you need first-person shooter mechanics, check out the latest version of the GAMMA modpack for Stalker Anomaly. It incorporates base building and has a very comprehensive crafting system for a lot of consumables and parts. |

I’ve been looking for the same style game. One game I bought when it first came out and put it down because the difficulty level was too high and it was still pretty rough is The Last Blight. I’ve heard it’s been polished quite a bit so I may pick it back up again but it does meet your requests(base building, post apocalyptic without zombies). I’ve played Valheim, Enshrouded, and Icarus. Icarus is my favorite of the theee but I wish it had humanoid enemies. Like roving bandits that would attack your settlement. The animals make it kind of boring after a while |
| The Forest is a pretty good survival game. It has crafting, gathering and exploring. All while trying to solve a mystery and find your missing son. It doesnt have zombies, but there is a cannibalistic tribe and creatures that inhabit the island you are trapped on. |
