I'm selling my 25-year-old JET table saw to downsize. Great saw, just want a new one. And, we are thinking of moving so, no big units. And my shop is small. Specs and Details: - Hobbyist, not a contractor- Mainly rip small ply, cedar, poplar, maple, etc. I have a large circular saw clamp on fence for reducing size of 4x8 ply - Want 10" blade - Does not need a base, I will build or buy something. I only need 2 to 3 feet of mobility. - Budget is up to $600/$700 - could stretch that. - Would like a quality, sturdy fence, miter, and overall accurate saw (I'm not cabinet making so, accurate is a loose term). - Can be 110/220 (18/9a) capable, I am wired for either. Would appreciate any suggestions for a good compact table saw. |

I’m gonna be in the market for one eventually. I’m kinda interested in the Bosch. The Hercules at Harbor Freight looks like a copy of the Bosch for a fair amount less. I don’t use it a lot so I may go that route. If you have Milwaukee batteries and want a cordless one, Milwaukee has a battery powered table saw. I like battery tools but any time I need a table saw, I always have easy access to a plug. |

Looking at specs and reviews on the Bosch. Don't need the stand but like the DeWalt, no choice. On the Bosch, looks like the newer version has upgrades. "While both feature 15-amp motors and are paired with Bosch's excellent Gravity-Rise stands, the GTS15-10 introduces a superior rack-and-pinion fence (replacing the standard slide-and-lock fence on earlier 4100 models) and advanced safety" ETA: tons of woodworking sites out there. The Dewalt gets a few more nods. Several mentions for the HF unit also. Skill comes up for budget friendly. |

It’s boxed up separately when you buy the saw. Sell it like I did. I use an old typewriter stand. Of course now that my storage situation has changed I wish I still had the stand.

Spent the morning at stores. Was able to handle both Bosch and Dewalt. Both fences felt solid for my work. The Bosch micro-tuned a bit finer. ETA: not true, I fiddled both at Lowe’s again, very similar. The soft start and blade stop were not critical to me but they are actually nice. Bosch was $150 less at Lowe’s. Will upgrade miter and build a a stand. Thanks for the input all. Attached File |

I like the location of the lock on the Bosch’s fence. The Dewalt is under the top and sometimes I find myself fiddling around to find it. What drew me to the Dewalt was the dovetail guides cut into the top instead of standard guides. I had an old Delta Tenon cutter that required the dovetail guides. Most pro saws have a dovetail guide. I’ve since gotten rid of the tendon cutter.

Bit of an update. I spent about 45 minutes tuning up the blade to the fence and for bevel. Damn close right out of the box. Going from full size JET to this is different. Smaller table. I was running my JET at 220 (8 amp). You can tell the difference in motor size. However, the Bosch did rip a 2 x 4 down the middle without hesitation just not the same as on the big table saw I was able to rip a 4’x4’ 5/8” sheet of ply at 28” by myself . I was impressed and it was dead on. As mentioned above, I do like where the fence lock is versus the DeWalt. It’s right up front where you do the adjustment side to side. I did look at the Harbor freight model compared to the Bosch and the DeWalt and all three are pretty similar in design. The Bosch matches the Hercules at Harbor freight pretty close. I did build a stand with wheels that puts the table height exactly 34”. I sold my old saw for $200. I sold the stand that came with this Bosch for $75 and paid $550 for the Bosch. $275 for a new saw after 25 years. I’m pleased with the saw so far. ETA: the dust collection is really good on this saw. Will upgrade to a better miter and build a sled. Attached File |

I’m definitely leaning toward the Bosch whenever I go to replace my old Craftsman. I can tell you are a woodworker. Some nice finishing touches on that stand! |
