Long time member and moderator crowboy passed away from cancer on May 27th, 2021 at 74 years old.  Crowboy was my dad, and I vividly remember growing up with him as a member on this site, trading and selling, purchasing and collecting rifles and handguns throughout the years.  I remember in the beginning, my brother and I would help him navigate taking pictures with our, at the time, modern digital camera.  We helped him upload those into each sales post.  It swiftly became a beloved hobby of my dad's to belong to this site, and to get to know so many other members.  My dad was a veteran of the Army, and a proud patriot.  It took me five months after his death to realize that his membership would still exist on here, and it has been the bitterest of bittersweet experiences to read through his posts about his love for Sig's and 1911's.

The last gun my dad sold was shortly before he began hospice at home, and before he passed away.  If anyone has any positive stories to share about crowboy, I would so appreciate hearing them.  Otherwise, I thought anyone who knew of him here deserved to know that he died peacefully at home, surrounded by family.

Airborne forever, as he'd always say.

Sorry for your loss.
My only direct interaction with him was helping me get a scammer banned for selling knockoffs years ago...

This for sure....

This is a huge loss for you and all of us here.
He was a good man!!!

Be proud of him and remember his greatness.

It always angers me when god takes the good ones like him and leaves us with so so many shit bums...
Why not be like a cat and swat the shit bums right off the planet, leave guys like your dad to make the world a better place.

Feel welcome to call this place a home.  I know its a Gun forum by title, but if you look around there is a section for many things and there are many great folks here.  Its a good place to come for advice on pretty much anything, or just for some random conversation.  Before long, it'll become and extended family.   I was introduced to my wife by a member who, who actually preformed our service...

I hope this doesn't sound unsympathetic, but when I lost my Dad to complications from dementia, I was actually grateful that the pain had ended and he could be at peace.

God rest your father's soul.  And God bless you and the rest of the family as you heal.

Your Dad helped me out a few times over the past years - and as early adopters on APRCOM, he was one of the most level, steady, unassuming, and non-pretentious members and mods on the board.  74 is too young for any of us older members to depart.
I wish you peace and thank you for sharing.

@OP
I am sorry for your loss. My prayers and thoughts will include you and your family and I hope you all will be able to continue to move through the grieving as gracefully as possible.

Your father, as noted above, had a notable contribution to making this site what it is today (owners interviewed on major news networks in the last 12mths) and had a positive impact in shaping members to be  their best.

I'm sure like everyone, he had his quirk's, but I have no doubt from what I've seen, he had to be a great father to you and the rest of your family.

Reading these responses has been a gift. I am overwhelmed with gratitude by everyone’s kindness, well wishes, and prayers. I was eleven when my dad began this journey on here, and I never could have known then the comfort this site would bring to me 20 years later as I mourn his loss. I remember some of your avatars and usernames. It’s so surreal what we can remember.

Fortitude and humility were the hallmarks of my dad’s personality, and he fought fiercely against his cancer for three years. This is my first loss, and it has been devastating. He was one in a million, and we were so lucky to love him and be loved by him.

The gratitude I carry that he was my dad, and that he’s finally at peace from the pain of his cancer, are both things that help each day feel just a little less heavy. And realizing just how widespread the community he cultivated here, brings a lot of happiness to me. Dad was a private guy, and he really kept to himself outside of our family. To see this kind of response has been so wonderful.

Thank you everyone. I can see why he found such a camaraderie in this. I am grateful for all of you, and I mean this sincerely, thank you.

So sorry to read this. Your dad was one of my favorite folks on this site. Hadn't seen him post in quite awhile, and hate why. But, all of us here are better for having 'known' and interacted with him over the years.
