I want to share this story about a recent interaction with Lokar so the rest of you are aware of it. I recently bought a car ('67 Cougar) that had a Lokar parking brake handle on the floor between the seats. The ratcheting mechanism wasn't working right, so I contacted Lokar about it to see if I could get some information on how to fix it. They said they'd just fix it for me if I sent it to them, so I shipped it off. I wasn't the original purchaser, but apparently they take their lifetime warranty seriously. They called me a day after it arrived with 'good news and bad news.' The good news was that they fixed my parking brake handle and were sending it back to me fully functioning. The bad news was that it was NOT a Lokar handle  . I'm incredibly impressed with them as a company. Their tech support was awesome to deal with, and even after they got my part and realized it was a counterfeit they still fixed it for me. I've been thinking lately that customer service is almost dead as a concept in this country, but apparently there are still some companies that do it well. Ive had pretty good interactions with lokar, too. Their warranty guys are great, even when the reason something broke isn't their fault. For the restomod guys, their shifters are tits. I have the one for the 4r70w with the sport mode bump shifting. Your car looks and feels like a classic, but yau have manual control when you want it like a modern one. |

1967 Cougar. 351W with Edelbrock heads, intake, and carb. T5 5 speed. Some suspension updates. I'm considering a few more updates to it in the near future. It took some tuning, but I have it running good with the carb now. Even still, I'm considering moving to fuel injection with something like the Holley Sniper 2 setup. I also think a center console would be nice, but I'd have to relocate the parking brake. As much as I don't like them, an electronic parking brake would be a pretty easy solution. Sweet Cougar! I watched the Bitchin’ Rides episode with the Riddler award competition. A guy competing took a ‘67 Cougar and the roof from a ‘67 fastback Mustang and made a fastback Cougar. It was beautiful. And speaking of great customer service, I bought an RC airplane receiver from MAC.BIDS. It’s an Amazon return clearing house. Normally about $150, got it for $85. It was a bad, used receiver someone had returned after a swap with Amazon. I contacted Horizion services (importer) and they replaced it free anyway. Very impressed! |
