One of the most raw and unfiltered cars of that era. I was fortunate enough to have a LOT of exposure to these cars in the early / mid 2000s in the shop I worked at in Texas. Cammed, stroked, and blown Vipers were a common fixture. The hearing loss I have now in my 40s can definitely be traced back to those dyno sessions.

I scored 93 out of 100 at a kinda local judged show, Ponies and Snakes today in Danville. Attached File My bud Tom on the left won his class out of 5 cars with a 94. Joe on the right beat me bigly out of 9 cars in our class with a 99. That dude needs an intervention. Do you want the YT short links of his anality? I have them. I suspect your comment was in jest, and that the Cayman GTS 4.0 of course stands on its own as being a desirable, beautiful Porsche with outstanding performance, and not gonna lie - it looks like a 911 to my uneducated eye. |

The 911 has always been the "Real" Porsche. Even back in the 80's and 90's you had the 944 and it was always considered the "poor man's Porsche". It's the same way now with the Cayman. The Cayman is a great car, but it will always suffer being second chair to the 911. Then you had the 928 which listed for more than the 911 back then. However 911's from that era have gone way up in price while the 928's have gone down. Again, this is because the 911 has always been considered a "true Porsche" and thus in higher demand in the long run. Honestly couldn't say how they compared back then. They were a bit over my paygrade. The only way to humble a 911 driver is to show up in a Carrera GT or a 918.  Disclaimer: I am NOT A Porsche expert. |
