This is very new to me, do any of the Learned Brothers here have any tips or advice for the Memory Work? Thanks in Advance! |

A couple of points that may help: - It is definitely possible to learn the catechism - (pretty much) all brothers in the lodge were able to do it - be patient with yourself - practice regularly with your mentors (I found twice per week was a good pace) - repeat it to yourself when you are alone - once you learn the EA catechism, the others are much easier Also, in *my* opinion, it is polite to thank your mentors. I would usually bring food to each session. This doesn't have to be expensive or fancy - just something that shows you appreciate their effort. |

I walked away. I watched supposedly good men do some stuff that was not anything I could agree with. I thought it was supposed to be to “make good men better”. There was nothing good about them. The WM was doing things that if they weren’t illegal, they were immoral. I’ll pass on all of that. You may be blessed with decent men in whatever lodge you are looking to join, I was not. I walked away and have prayed to the Lord for forgiveness. I made a huge mistake in joining. I made it through the first three degrees and was planning on going scottish rite when I was shown the error of my ways. |

It's going to be repetition, lots of repetition. I found that saying it out loud helped me cement it. I was doing it in the car on the way to and from work. I still do that when I am practicing lectures and other parts before giving them. The more often you can meet with your coach the earlier you will catch errors. Are you mouth to ear in your jurisdiction or do you have a catechism book to help you out? |

As a Past Master (2015) it helps with breaking it down into sections. Then work on the phrases like a cadence or a type of musical rhythm. Also, uh... I don't want to publish the link, but... Go search for yourself: Nevada or Florida (I think), maybe Phoenix, AZ... I can't remember. THE ENTIRE EA, FC, AND MM, DEGREES ARE PUBLISHED!!!  A few words here and there are wrong (depending on your Grand Lodge in your own state), but it's 90% spot on! |

I agree with the making it rhythmic. I also “wrote” it down with a pen with no cartridge. I have this weird thing about once I have written something. It is almost memorized. Two or three times later and it’s over. Right And you are correct, you are up for the job. |
