Kelly, my late wife; the light of my life (Page 1 of 2)

Kelly passed away 02 September, 2 days after our 23rd anniversary, after a long battle with MS. Meeting her was the best thing that ever happened to me, and she is finally at peace. She lived life to the fullest, and despite her illness she never lost her faith.
She taught me so much about unconditional love, the importance of laughter; she accepted my daughters as her own, she was nothing short of amazing. Kelly talked me into going back to college full time to finish my degree while she was a librarian. She did so much for me. I cared for her at home for 12+ years, we hired a CNA for while I was at work. Her last 2 years were in a nursing home, but I stopped each evening to visit with her, feed her supper, brush her teeth. God, what I would give to hold her just one more time. Kelly and me, her last photo

When Kelly and my girls posed for this, I was embarrassed (what I tight––- I was then). Now it's my screen saver, and both daughters have prints displayed in their homes. 
Here we are in front of Fish Creek Falls, in CO. She loved that place, and we went there often. 
Kelly was always happy if she had a book and a cat in her lap. Resting in New Mexico, when we lived there.

she's beautiful, and it looks like you two had some amazing times together. I can't imagine the loss you must be feeling, but please know that you are not alone... several other members here have lost their wives over the past couple of years, and I know that they would be willing to lend an ear (or a shoulder) if you need it...

You did a great thing and I commend you on setting a great example for the rest of us to live up too when it comes to loving our wives as Christ loved us. Not enough men today would do what you did. And even fewer would even understand why. Thanks for sharing! |

I've always thought that we miss the loved ones we lose more because of how much we knew they loved us than for how much we loved them.
There are truly special people in the world and it appears that two of them found each other. You're blessed. My condolences for your loss. |

I'm so sorry for your loss. As others have mentioned, I very much respect all that you did to give her a full life. It's obvious how much you both cared for each other just from those few pics and from your post. It'll take time to learn how to live your life now, but you will get there. There's no set amount of time, as we're all different, but many of us are here for you anytime you want to talk. Don't hesitate to IM me if I can be of some help. Lots of good people on here will tell you the same thing, and the offer is sincere.

When she posed with my girls in front of Pizza Hut, and insisted that I take this picture, I was mortified –– now it's one of my favorite photos. It epitomized her free spirit. Both daughters have this photo prominently displayed in their homes, and it's my screen saver. It helps me to post those, so I am glad that you also like her smile –– looking through our photo albums it amazes me to realize just how much she smiled. I need to get a decent scanner, though. We met in TX, then I moved her all over the country for my work. She never complained, except when we had to leave NM. She loved it there best, I think partly because my office was about 200 yards from our house so I was home for lunch every day. She had a great view of a sandstone cliff behind the house, and she never tired of watching the birds fly near it. |

My gf and her mom both have MS. I pray my daughter never develops that ugly disease. I will pray for your children as well. More attention needs to be given to FIGHTING MS on a national level!!! You sir, are truly a great individual. Stay strong. |
