My graphite experiment on my Takomos was a fail. Couldn't feel the club head, couldn't generate much speed, dispersion was all over the damn place, and they were too light at 95 grams. They launched TOO high which was also robbing me of distance. In short, I should have tried some other graphite shafts first before I bought the Mitsubishi OTi. I decided to go back to steel. I had an idea what I wanted from researching and went to the PGA Superstore to do my own "fitting" by grabbing used irons with different shafts and hitting them in the sim. I had it narrowed down to the KBS $-Taper and Dynamic Gold Mid. The $-Taper felt amazing so I bought a set of 125's in Stiff+ which is what I hit at the store. I had to use shims since they only come in taper shafts and the Takomos are .370 hosel but they went together great and I just finished my first testing. Holy hell what a difference. Ball speed, dispersion, flight path, and feel are all MUCH better. I definitely made the right choice. If you're not liking the feel of your irons, go somewhere that you can test the $-Taper. |
