Warning of "certain fiscal collapse within weeks" and possible bankruptcy, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts' board of trustees could vote as early as Tuesday on another resolution adding President Donald Trump's name to the building facade, with officials arguing it is necessary to secure his fundraising support, as well as a measure that would immediately close the center's main building. The resolutions expected to be introduced at the tomorrow's meeting warned that the Center faces a "dire financial position" if Trump's name is not added to the façade, and that the performing arts will not be able to afford payroll and maintenance "within a matter of weeks." "The Board understands that without such appropriate recognition it is unlikely that President Trump will provide the fundamental oversight of the renovation of the main building and lead the fiscal rescue of the Center," says the resolution, which includes 10 options for the board to consider to place Trump's name on the marble facade under the name of the center. The center had chronic cash flow problems for years, but was limping along ... until Trump appointed people who redid the program to be more 'red state patriotic'. More Lee Greenwood, less Yo Yo Ma, that kind of thing. Turns out the audience of the center liked Yo Yo Ma better, and stayed away in droves and Lee Greenwood fans did not compensate. Hence, cash flow crunch. |

| If the Kennedy Center is a shithole, maybe we should start having concerts in the new White House ballroom on the rare days when our ruling class isn't using it. It is certainly big enough and at least that way John Q Public might actually get some benefit out of it. |

Shows me the judge has a political agenda. I would not want him ruling on any other case I had pending. That's a judicial problem. Unfit to make judgements. You don't want to go too far down this rabbit hole, people start to think there is no justice, take the law into their own hands, etc. Consequences to every political decision, you can trivialize it all you want and act surprised when it goes sideways. |
