Buddy of mine that I've had for 45+ years was coming up from Pismo with a few friends to do do Slickrock, That's a two and half hours south from me in my little JKUR ( compared to the fleeet of gladiators ). so I met up with them. I'd never done that trail before, It's a good one. That's Mike with the Gray Gladiator and my little ( lol ) JK on the left. It's funny watching those guy 58 point turn damn near everywhere while we just go around the corners.

However, I would miss the power, range, and comfort of the F150. I have a multiple Gladiator owners in my Club. One of the regulars retired his 2000 Tacoma with 400,000 miles and picked up a stock height Gladiator Rubicon on 35" tires. That thing gets hung up on everything! The break over angle is horrible, the ground clearance even with 35" tires is horrible. I frequently comment to him, that, that is the worst Rubicon I've ever seen. Except for the 8 point turns, once you put 37's or 40+ tires on Gladiators, they are unstoppable. This gent has 40" tires on 20" Bead Lock wheels. A trail we frequent has a washout / gully at the start of it. We cut a short bypass around the gully. Here's Jonathan going through it on 40's with his JTR.  Jonathan showing us how it's done. #jeep #marktwainmafia I slid into it and was able to get out of it with 37's previously.  Slid into the gully on FS 157. Lockers FTW. And another member that traded off his Gladiator on 40's for a Bronco. I told him to take the bypass but he didn't listen... Good thing he manages a body shop. I showed up for a trail ride with a group a few years ago with my TJ on 31 inch tires. Leader that day, Jeep shop owner who I had never met before, showed up in a Gladiator on 40 inch tires. I was like “uh oh”. But, he was fairly gentle on us and we had a great day. I was able to go through all the trails because of my short wheel base. I’m thinking about a retirement rig being a Gladiator Mojave, or maybe a Sport with Max Tow package, on at least 35 inch tires for towing a small 3000ish pound camper for lengthy trips out west when I retire. Park the camper and go take trails and sightsee. Probably change the gear ratio to 4.88. Still researching. Have a few years to go. |

I never crawled rocks but it impressed in all weather and the moderate off roading I threw at it, even on oem tires. That SUV never failed me. The turning radius was good enough that it made my wife, a non-car person, set that as an important benchmark for what she likes in a vehicle. |

The Grand Cherokee is just the grocery getter so I'll never really test it's capability, but some far I'm extremely impressed with it in every way. |
