I grabbed a Marshall JCM2000 TSL100 and 1960 angled cab off marketplace a few weeks back for cheap (i only wanted the cab, but the guy basically threw in the non working head for free) and just got around to getting it running. Attached File Attached File First thing I did was open up the cab and re-wire it using 'lamp' cord and soldering the ends: Attached File Then I needed a jack plate for the back. New OEM plates run over $50, but I wasn't going to wire up the stereo Jack's so I decided to make my own plate. I started by trying to mold kydex to a rectangle shape with a recession to sit inside the opening, but the kydex i had on hand was waaay too thick to mold, so I grabbed some clear 1/4" lexan I had and shaped it on the bandsaw and router: Attached File Attached File |

Then I realized I could add a pic and glue it to the inside of the lexan: Attached File Attached File Attached File Then on to the head. The guy I got it from said he'd had the bias drifting issue common to these repaired when he first got it, so he thought he had a tube go bad and that's why it wasn't working. All the tubes tested good so I started poking around inside and found a resistor that exploded: Attached File Attached File Replaced it last night and closed it up, just haven't had time to fire it up yet. Hopefully it works. (I know I should check the bias first, but I'm lazy and impatient so I probably won't. I'll post after I give it a try. ) |
