My grandaughter is home from college for Thanksgiving and asked me if this could be fixed. Apparently she dropped it at some point. The glass screen seems to be fine with no cracks. It's a Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15IRU7 fwiw. I tried plugging a USB C data transfer cord into it to see if I could read/retrieve files and it is completely unresponsive to any keyboard or mouse pad inputs, it didn't even beep to acknowledge I had plugged the data cord in. It powers up and this is all I see, no mouse cursor or anything else,is it toast? FWIW I am at the end of my knowledge on this, I can barely post here and do emails.. Attached File |

that doesn't seem to be no cracks. probably an ssd if it is newer. so it can be disassmbled to get the drive out and pull data later. the screens can be replaced, but it depends on how it was dropped if it did any damage to something else important. the fact that you can't get a response from usb doesn't really mean anything, since you can't see where it is in the boot up. you could try a docking station or hooking up any screen outputs to a monitor and a usb keyboard and mouse and see if you can see anything that way. |

Like others have said, try external monitor first- you don't know what screen or stage of startup it's at. That looks like something crushed the center (like someone stepping on it etc) and cracking the LCD internally. They're somewhat fragile. | When I was in the stan I had to have my eval signed. On the convoy out to see my rater, my gunner slammed the cover to the MRAP open witch smashed my backpack containing my laptop. Screen was cracked and barely readable but my laptop worked. FYI. |
Protecting privacy will come at a cost. Use encrypted email (Proton), messaging (Signal), and password manager (KeepassXC). Use a vetted VPN only!, Social media is mind poison.
| If an external monitor (you can use a flatscreen tv) works when plugged in (eg, it's only the screen that's busted and not the whole laptop) then a replacement screen costs about $80 for that model. If you can do the work yourself (find a youtube tutorial) it might be worth it. I think that laptop is about $350-400 currently. |

| Thank you everyone, new computer was acquired via black Friday deal. I scrounged up an HDMI cord and was able to boot it up and everything but the screen works. Going to retrieve files for the time being,I may pick up a replacement screen and keep it for myself. |
