Here’s the situation: I currently have a 22 Limited Expedition Max 2wd with about 75000 miles. Has a weird electrical gremlin that appears when it’s hot out, but otherwise is in excellent shape. My in laws have approached us about buying one of their suburbans that lives in Florida. It’s a 2019 LT (I think) 4x4 with about 20000 miles since they no longer need two. I can buy it for about $25k and looks like local market for my current vehicle is around $34k. We’d have to drive down and get it with three kids in tow, but it’s a built in vacation for them. We’d fly down but our kids do not do well flying at all so it’d be a one way rental trip. Thoughts? |

The mechanic my company uses has a collection of destroyed 5.3 Chevy cams. I figured taking my chance with AFM was a better bet than the Ford transmission. We’ll probably head out next week. |

I've read frequent/regular oil changes are one of the best defenses against AFM failures. Change the oil every 5k, full synthetic. With the mileage that low, get a tune that disables AFM. I have two GM trucks, but both are a little older and non-AFM. 2008 Suburban 2500 with 275k miles and an 09 Sierra Denali with 150k. Both are still dead-nuts reliable. |
