Raised in Arvada #130 January 1999, joined Scottish Rite & Shrine in June of that year.
Dropped out of the Shrine by 2002 and I'm in arrears with the Consistory currently - No real reason, just never got around to sending dues. I quit the Shriners because it was too much like the Elks club - If I wanted a place to drink, I'd go there. It's entirely possible that I take Freemasonry too seriously and thus never fit in with the Shriners. I still have an amazing amount of respect for their hospitals, however. A couple of years ago Arvada 130 joined with Paul Revere 14x (I don't remember their number) because our building was too old to maintain and active membership was declining. When I was active with the Lodge, we'd planned on selling the building for a pretty nice chunk of change, but then the market collapsed in 2001 so we lost out. Both my sons are interested in joining, but since the DeMolay chapter is small and older, I can't get them interested in that. |

learning to teach the catechism on the 1st and 3rd degree. Thanks GB and whomever else for this forum. I had no clue it was here. I only go to General for team, almost never go to GD. Somehow scrolled down tonight and saw this forum. I said "I didn't know we had a Masonic forum" Then I found out it is brand new. ETA also member of Bethesda Chapter #16 Royal Arch. Although I'm not active, I'm too busy learning my Blue Lodge work. To become WM in ~16 months I need to do the obligation in all 3 degrees. Plus a lot more. |

England allows female masons?
In the U.S., most of the brothers i know would be outraged by that. When i was in D.C. i had the opportunity to sit in lodge with a female Master from Belgum. Most of the older guys were extremely uncomfortable but i thought nothing of it. I had no issues at all with it. |

But I had a very close friend who became one in his last few years of life. When he passed, the Masons came and performed his burial ceremony, with much respect. His name was Wayne Henry Cobb. Folks here know him as EricTheHun. RIP brother Wayne. |

No matter how much the left decries it, the TRUTH is never vitriol. |
I had long been totally indifferent to what was done with my mortal remains after death. Whatever comforted any loved ones I had left was fine with me, until I was drafted to help with a Masonic funeral. Now I hope my wishes will be honored and I'll be afforded that final dignity.

From their website: "The United Grand Lodge of England have, in a statement of 10th March 1999, acknowledged the regularity and sincerity of women’s Freemasonry although they do not officially recognise it and their members cannot take part. Many of our own Lodges meet in premises owned by the men’s Order and informal relations are cordial and co-operative." I believe that the UGLE has let them use grand lodge, and locally they've used local mens temples... Nearly all of them are married to masons anyway :-) I went with my wife to their centenary celebrations at the Albert Hall, so they are certainly acknowledged... http://www.owf.org.uk/News.htm We're up the top in the cheap seats :-) |
