Image verification code issue. (Page 1 of 2)

| I was wondering if anyone else is having issues with the image verification code? It does not show up on my phone or laptop (they are both Apple products). I can't message via email or IM. |
|
Yes! I’m having the same issue. Forgot there was a site tech section. My post above is doomed in GD. Edit 1:. Updating to 15.7 caused my problem. A subsequent upgrade to 16.0 resolved it for me on the advice of another member. |
| I have the issue on my MacBook Air updated to most recent MacOS. On Safari I can’t see the capchta code. On Brave I can see it, but I keep getting an incorrect login. |

Was unable to log in from my iPhone (iOS 16.0.2), iPad (iOS 15.7) or even my Windows (10) desktop. A password reset request (but keeping my same password) got me in on my iPhone and Windows desktop, but not my iPad. My iPad is my main Arfcom browser. On my iPad, it will not even show the Captcha image. WTF? My iPad worked fine the evening of 9/29. There has not been an iPad update since then. Now today (9/30) it doesn't work at all. I do not believe this to be an iOS issue. I believe this is a site issue. |

Apple is pushing for a world without Captcha, which I am all for, but they pushed ahead without much fanfare and notification. They also didn't warn users. In your settings you can disable this. Settings -> Apple ID -> Password and Security -> Automatic Verification |

Ok, I’m having this same issue “I think” on my iPhone. We have been without power due to Ian and I’m trying to surf Arfcom with my phone. Tried to log in and kept getting login failed. Reset cookie, no go. Cleared all history and nothing. I’m getting the captcha numbers to enter, my password is the same that I used on this iPad to log in but still getting the login failed. Now I’m locked out for 15 mins. This is getting frustrating… |

Ok..ok..I just figured out how to fix this. Go to your passwords in settings. I’m assuming everyone stores their password. When you click on ar15.Com it will show the website, your login email and your password blanked out. In the middle of the page will be an option to enter a setup key. Click on that. It will open and give you the box below. You want to enter a verification key. Open it up and enter the number 0. It will automatically generate captcha numbers every 30 seconds that the site will accept. You will not have to enter anything. I now have all my IOS devices logged back in doing this. I’m running 15.7. THANK YOU Striker for helping me get that change made....!! @pokey074 @Nyresq1 Attached File |

Originally Posted By CRS188: @southershooter, does this solve the image view problem or your login problem? Were you having an issue viewing the captcha numbers? If so yes it does. I couldn’t see the numbers and that prevented me from logging on. This generates the numbers automatically so you don’t have to see them or enter a captcha to log in. I’m not sure how many issues the site is experiencing right now, but I know this fixes the IOS problem for those running versions older than 16. Resetting your password seems to fix the issue on Windows machines. It did mine. Hope this helps. Also, sorry I missed @CRS188 you for my last post.

For anyone running into this still, it's an Apple issue with the upgraded os and auto enabling of their captcha skip process. Go into settings, then go into your appleID info (it's the top option with your name and under it says apple ID, icloud, etc.), then go into password and security, scroll down and turn off automatic verification. (Description under it says "Bypass captchas in apps and on the web") You can get there quicker is you search for "Password & Security" in the phone/tablet search. Either way, if you are having problems, that should correct the issue. |

The latest version of iOS for my iPad is 15.7, which doesn't even have those settings. iPhone running 16.0.2 is not working and I had already made those changes. Something is broken with either the site or Captcha. This is getting really frustrating. |

So you aren't getting any captcha images on any browser or on any device? The system hasn't changed and I've tested it on a few browsers on different PCs and no issue. I also don't see the issue on my phone with the settings. I know it could be me, since several folks have this issue, but outside of the Apple update, which specifically targets captcha, I'm not aware of anything else which would impact the images. Are you using ad blockers? Any security add-ons? Anything you can disable to see if it's blocking them? |

On my Windows desktop I tried three different browsers (FireFox, Chrome, and Brave) with no luck. With Brave I disabled its security features and it still didn't work. Weirdest damn thing. But also extremely frustrating. So if that happens, usually there's something messing with the cookie. So what happens is that you show up at the site and the cookie sets your session (unique code so it knows it's you), then you login and it's tied to that unique code. So when something like this happens, it means the cookie was made and removed (corrupt cookie can do this too). What happens from the site's point of view, is that it logs you in and sets you to that unique code, but it's then deleted. So it has to try again and again and again. So even it can look like you are logged in, or it can look like nothing happens and you refresh the page. If the code is always wrong, then it could just be that the code is being cached or something weird. So like you are seeing an older code than the one you should be seeing. It's less likely that is the issue since all of those are time stamped when they are made, so the code is unique and the image created is unique as well. So if the image is showing, I would think the image is right and your cookie is fubar. Check for any kind of cookie security or management issue. The fact it's impacting all your devices may be something on your home network is blocking things or at your ISP. Have you tries your mobile device without being on wifi? That's a pretty nice way to check. Just turn off wifi and try to log in. Let me know what happens. |
