And those failures have been coming from intentional choices and "culture" at the highest levels. Personally, I don't think the recent buy-in is going to change that significantly. If anything, it may even give those highest levels the reassurance that they're "too big to fail" and enable them in being irresponsible even more. |

INTC is not saveable. Trump is flushing taxpayer dollars down a toilet. Government is not the answer. Masa at SoftBank has a better chance of turning things around, but GD fans of a certain politician don’t want to hear that. |

Since Intel began they have relied on getting a 30% profit margin. They have accomplished this on their CPU's for a long time, but on their memory business they have always developed a new form of memory and sold it until other companies made enough that it drove the prices for the memory down; and then they sold their memory division to someone else and developed a new form of memory. This went fine for DRAM, SDRAM, NOR FLASH, and NAND FLASH. Intel sold their FLASH drive division 4-5? years ago along with their NAND FLASH memory division. Then their new "OPTANE" memory failed at about the same time, they never managed to develop a reliable manufacturing process for it, only about 70% of the bits would actually work properly in their chips and new failures during use happened far too frequently. They still put out a couple of memory cache products, but the failure rate of the bits meant they couldn't get the 30% margin, and they recently shut down their Optane memory division. The last 10 years AMD has reduced their margin on their CPU chips and Intel has had to match, and still be out sold because of errors in the Intel CPU's. The last three generations of Intel CPU chips have had errors in them ,I have to believe at this point that it is endemic in the Intel development process to not completely check their CPU chips and end up putting CPU's with errors onto the street. So Intel is done, I don't think they can come back from these failures. If Optane had worked and developed a market to provide cash to re-do the CPU development process and put out error-free chips for a couple of generations then Intel might have been able to recover, as it is I don't think they'll last long enough to do this, and I don't think they will even try to re-do their CPU development process at all but continue to hope they are lucky and get an error free CPU with the next generation. |

When gov is allowed to co-own their favorite businesses, manipulate markets up and down with midnight tweets, and the inner circle has pre-knowledge of these moves we are headed down a bad road . His shit coin scam aimed at his fan base on day one was a preview of what was in store for the rest of us. Peter Theil's puppet is going to be just as bad. Yes I realize bailouts and "too big to fail" are nothing new and the Dems are just as guilty but I naively was hoping Trump would reverse course towards the big gov erosion of the free enterprise system instead of doubling down. |

I'll take the counterpoint on Intel. These days you have to think "where will the government spend its money" when stock picking. Granted the company sounds like it's a walking DEI/H1B poster child. But my thesis is when China starts escalating further with Taiwan, Uncle Sam will continue to do everything in its power to bolster domestic chip production with grants, carveouts, and whatever else. I've held INTC since 9/23/24 and am currently up 14.25% on it. |

It's been pretty snake bit for the last few years. The question "can it be turned around" has floated through at least the last two CEOs. This company sqandered a great leading spot in the industry. Now a lot of the talent has gone elsewhere. It will take more than money and another revamp to turn it around. |
