Title says it all.
I purchased my first coin from JM Bullion and went smoothly.
I could use some guidance other than my initial plan as follows…I’m looking to spend about $1k a month on precious metals to physically have for later on or SHTF.

Thanks for the feedback.

What do you want guidance on? Generally in my experience, many people who want to buy precious metals….probably shouldn’t. Those same people never want any advice so I tend to avoid the conversation most of the time.

Need a little more info on what you are looking to accomplish.

Like I said, I’m very new to it. I want to add this in my sophomoric thought process as a supplement to me and my wife’s retirement.

I am not one of those who is untrainable. I’m in my mid 40s and my boss is 27 and my lead on the crew I’m on is 38…..so I feel I’m open minded enough to listen to someone who is more knowledgeable about stuff I have little knowledge of.

Ok then here goes……

How well funded is your retirement? Pensions? 401k? Are you and your wife eligible to contribute to a Roth IRA? Medical? Access to a HSA? If so, is it fully funded? Can you contribute more than you currently are to all your accounts? Have a mortgage and if so, what’s the interest rate? Vehicle loan debt? Credit card debt? Other debt? Plenty of cash available for an emergency? Like 3-6 months of living expenses or more?

Buying metal for store of wealth after a financial disaster is one thing. To supplement your retirement….probably not such a great idea but need a better idea where the stuff above stands.

Texas precious metals

By 60/40 gold/silver
If allocating 1k per month id probably get 1/10 gold and the rest silver 1 month and then the next  month 2 1/10th coins gold and rotate.

Get whatever is lowest...dont give a shit about what it is...lowest over spot wins.

Wait for dip days...dont buy when its ripping.

Stacking is fun

I say go for it.. there is nothing wrong with not putting all your eggs in one basket. Its not an investment, but a way to hold wealth in your hand, portable, that is a hedge against all the bad things like the FED, printing money, devaluation of our "cash" and its buying power.

If you are not in serious debt paying 20-30% interest rates on credit cards, in which case pay those off first.

Fact is.. no one on this forum, including me, can possibly tell you what is coming down the pipe. If you asked anyone ten years ago about the future, they would never had pegged all the insane shit that has happened. Our dollar is ready to implode.. so in the world.. and having tangible wealth that can fit in your pocket is not a bad thing. I dont mean to barter.. I mean to rebuild when society settles.

Buy smart... there are some really good online dealers that sell at close to melt for gold... including costco. JM is not bad, provident has gotten more expensive over the years.. I've been buying on the forum as well.

I am no expert on gold and silver, however, I was buying small amounts of both back when the Hunt brothers tried to corner the market on silver. I watched bags of silver trade over the counter in various coin shops, sometimes almost doubling in value/cost over a 24 hour period. It was a remarkable time with people bringing in silverware, silver tea pots, etc.

With that said, I am not a big fan of gold and silver, but do own a small amount of physical gold and silver, plus a small amount of  KGC, NEM, SLV. I have never really had great increases in value with gold and silver long-term after adjusting for inflation. Still, it is one type of preparing for really hard times.

I also have some long-term food storage that I think might be a bit better hedge against extreme hard times, but I don't consider it an "investment".

Hope this is of some help to you OP.

I just buy what I like and stick to U.S. Mint though I have a couple 1 oz Maple leaf's

I generally just stick to buying a 1oz gold coin and a 1oz silver coin a year

1st and foremost I just like them

2nd I like the Idea of being able to throw a dozen gold coins in my pocket and walking out the door for whatever reason you can think up (fire, flood, some sort of natural disaster, some sort of .gov enforcement tossing me out of my house and or locking my bank accounts etc.  then I can sell them off as needed to fund what I need at the moment

3rd though I don't really think of them as a good investment or making money, I have been doing this about 20years and the value compared to what I paid for them has gone up significantly

4th I have no debt, fully funded retirement, plenty of other investments.  this is mainly a hobby for me not an investment strategy.
