My 20th anniversary is coming up and I had been talking about a watch since that was my 10 year anniversary gift (Orient Mako USA). I was looking at chronographs and my wife took an unusual interest in my nerdy ramblings. Due to the way we do finances, it is hard for her to buy me a gift of any high cost without me knowing. So the other day I got a potential fraud alert to approve a purchase at Chrono24... She texted me "so much for being a surprise, I need that code"  So I know a watch is coming. I'd wager it will be an automatic chronograph just under $1k OTD. Now the guessing and waiting begins. |

Update. Today is our Anniversary, turns out I'm getting 2 watches. She got me this one first: Attached File And then she heard me rambling about Automatics, and rather than saying tough cookie the is what you get (which I would be perfectly happy with). She ordered me a Hamilton Chrono that is on the way. Not sure which one, but I'll update when it gets here. |

| Not a spring bar. The link pins are 2 piece pin/collar (or tube I've seen both nomenclature) the tube is a hollow piece 1.2x4mm. I haven't been able to find one the right size except in some kits or some trim to size parts. I'll call Hamilton on Tuesday, I'm sure they can get one to me. |

You have good taste in affordable automatic watches. I studied just about every possible tool watch for about $1k, and those were all absolutely on my short list(s). Hamilton always impresses me at those prices. Seiko has been really solid too. I know that it's not a cool Swiss brand, but it works well and lasts. |
