Sorry OP I know how you feel. Today is the 15th aniv. of losing my son. I will be honest it gets worse before it gets better. But somewhere down the road ( 10 or so years ) it starts to get a little better.
Good luck.

sq40,  I'm so sorry to hear this.  Our family experienced a terrible loss with the death of a close family member way too soon.  The pain will never subside but you will learn to deal with it and be able to remember all the good times you shared with your son.

Be strong for your family but do not hesitate to seek help if you feel overwhelmed.  Do not just bottle it up inside.  Talk to someone.

Prayers for your family.

No parent should ever have to bury their children. It's just wrong. It's not natural. They bury us, not us them.

I am terribly sorry for your loss. Your son looked like a great kid. Please take comfort in knowing that you did right by him for the 17 years he was given to you and that he loved you very much.

Wow man, that's terrible.

There really aren't any words to help, however the fact that you posted will hopefully help you out.

And maybe some others around here will be helped out when they show it to their kids.

Receive in tranquility and peace, O Lord, the souls of your servants who have departed this present life to come to you. Grant them rest and place them in the habitations of light, the abodes of blessed spirits. Give them the life that will not age, good things that will not pass away, delights that have no end, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

As a father who has been there, (my son died 10 years ago at the age of 14 years due to a medical condition), there are the ones who love you, wife, children, family and close friends who are really going thru hell now too. The biggest problem is that they don't know how to help. There doesn't go a day that you think about your son, I still think of mine. Talk to your wife, I mean really talk. If you don't it could tear your marriage apart (it darn near did mine in). Your other children are really hurting now too. I know it is not possible, but love them more now. It sounds like you did a great job of raising your son, to be a man.

I am sorry for your lose.

How are you, sq?

Just because we're (mostly) all strangers, doesn't mean we don't care. I hope you and your family are weathering the storm.  One day at a time... the worst will pass, or at least some of the rough edges will wear down with time.

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints, other times there was one only.
This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life, when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow or defeat, I could see only one set of footprints, so I said to the Lord,
“You promised me Lord, that if I followed you, you would walk with me always.
But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life there has only been one set of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most, have you not been there for me?”

The Lord replied, “The years when you have seen only one set of footprints, my child, is when I carried you.”
Sorry about the mayonnaise, guys.
