Have made some upgrades to the Rockhopper over the last few months. Better tires and Deore groupset, minus brakes. The bike came with 160mm brake rotors. Good enough on the rear, but dangerous on the front. Front brake works much better with a 180mm disc. Tires are lighter with better grip.

Been having a lot of fun

It’s tough to beat a hardtail.  Nice lookin’ rig.  I have the 1x11 Deore on my Surly Bridgeclub, which is my dad bike that I pull the kids with.  Great groupset so far that hasn’t really needed any maintenance from me.  I still haven’t lubed the chain, and I’ve got to be pushing 1k miles on the bike.  Still quiet like day 1 and shifts smooth like butta.  Haven’t even adjusted a cable aside from getting the initial brake lever feel dialed in.  Far less finicky system than some of the Shimano or SRAM road gruppos I’ve owned in the past.

Anyways, enjoy those upgrades and have fun out there!
