I haven’t forgotten about you guys I hope you haven’t forgotten about us!! It has been so crazy with the holidays and I am now working 2 jobs and trying to get some things legalized (hint hint) dealing with lawyers and craziness all over the place lol but it will all be worth it !! Remember Jack??? Jack is now almost 6 months old , he is a wonderful addition to any family !! He is getting fixed December 20,right now he is around 35 pounds but he will be a big dog, he is fully vetted and waiting to find his future family !!! He is amazing with kids and needs to be with another dog he loves to play with dogs!! He is good around chickens, but he will steal their food!! The vet does believe he will eventually become fully blind , he is partially blind now but that doesn’t stop him from being the most amazing dog ever!! He is house broken , he doesn’t chew and he does enjoying arguing with you in the cutest way!! He enjoys car rides and water ! It's so amazing to see Jack doing so well when we thought he would not make it. That's a nice Christmas gift.

A suggestion, WHEN the time comes to start seriously looking for a forever home for Jack… Consider reaching out to all service dog organizations within a few hundred miles and ask to speak with their director. Tell them you have a phenomenal young dog who is heading towards a disability of his own but would make a wonderful candidate for training. Trained but disabled service dogs are EXTREMELY valuable for working with children and as hospital therapy dogs. They have the resources and network of fosters/trainers to possibly bring him under their care. I’ve seen it firsthand in hospitals where I live and it’s a very elegant solution to placement. With the transport network available, if you try that route consider a nationwide appeal. Any organizations that are responsive, ask for futher referrals to others in their community to increase visibility. Facebook, twitter, etc to reach a wider audience. This placement will be unique and possibly challenging. Very doable however. Maybe after the first of the year start a big and highly visible thread in GD. A catchy title along with the backstory to grab eyeballs. An emotional appeal, as I am sure that SOMEBODY knows of a potential adopter, either themselves or someone in their orbit, that Jack would fit well with. As stated before, I will offer to assist with transport costs or make a lump sum donation in Jack's name. I'll invite others to match my offer with the goal of making the adoption as low cost as possible for the new family. Any leftover donations would go to the general SFDR fund. Because of Jack's unique situation, if the story is told well, you may draw out those who may have sat on the sidelines for previous adoptions. The usual suspects will show up, but a sitewide audience may be required to find the right fit. Now might be a good time to reach out to your entire network via a mass emailing and request that they forward the appeal to everyone in their contact list. Talk to every vet you know and ask for referrals. Reach out to every sister rescue group you can find. No stone left unturned. The right situation is out there but some extra legwork may be required. Jack is still waiting for the perfect home !! He is crate trained , house trained and gets along with everyone !!    He is the sweetest little guy!! He is great with the kids and loves the outdoors !! If you have questions or interested please contact me or kitty !! |
