I’ve been under some stress lately and find myself smoking my pipe more often than I’d like. I’d like to get more control and skip an occasional day and maybe reserve a time, place or activity to enjoy a bowl. For starts I’ve excluded smoking in the morning, this is hard to do when you have “Early morning pipe” laying around. Also, I bought some average bulk tobacco that I’m not crazy about. Right now I’m smoking about 4 bowls a day, every day. How often do you smoke your pipe? |

I bounce between the pipe and cigars. My "everyday smoke" cigar is a big boy, lasts about 2 hours. So when I smoke the pipe, that's the time I'm allocating to relax. I smoke a McArthur corn cob pipe, which has a pretty big bowl, so that's usually 2-3 bowls. |

Amazon has Missouri corncobs for $9. A pouch of half & half from the grocery store is all you need to see if you like it. Dr. Grabow out of Sparta NC makes good Briar pipes my personal favorite is the Grand Duke. I still smoke both of those in addition to my Savanelli ones filled with Full Virginia Flake. |

I have a Missouri corncob that I keep in my fishing kit. This was my first pipe and it's really well made, and has a nice pouch for storage. Now that it's getting nicer I'll probably smoke mine once or twice a week after work.  
Watch some youtube videos on how to properly pack a bowl and keep it lit. It'll save you a lot of early frustration and make the experience more enjoyable. 90% of the battle early on is keeping the damn thing lit

It depends. Some days I don't smoke at all. I don't smoke in the house since my daughter complains about it, so weather can affect how much time I have for a pipe. Some days I may have 10-12 bowls full. Like when I'm working on my tractor or in the garage, or have a long day of relaxing on the porch. When I have a lot of driving for work I generally have 2-3 bowls in a day. On the weekends I generally have 3-4 bowls in a day. I have a lot of corn cobs that I leave in the garage (and a couple in the tractor tool box). But I've been smoking since I was in Boy Scouts and I'm 50 now. I have a fairly average collection of Petersons, Savinellis, Nordings, Bjarnes, a few meerchaum, and 2 Dunhill pipes ( a 50 year bookend set from my birth year and last year). I have around 45 in my collection right now which is pretty small. |

I might smoke three times over a weekend. Then I might not smoke a pipe for months. Then maybe once. Then not again for a month. For me it’s when I have some time and I’m just in the mood. |
