I pulled this out of the Box O Goodies and an curious how much air supply is needed. It looks like the connections are some sort of press-fit/pull-release, so I can't imagine the air input would handle too much pressure. I'm thinking of bolting it to a magnet to make repositioning and sharing between lathe and mill possible. ... at least I'm assuming it's for mist and not full flow coolant... Attached File |

As little as possible. Contrary to the name, you really don't want to be blowing a cloud of mist all over in your home shop. If that's an Amazon special you can modify them a bit so the coolant is pressure fed to the nozzle, then you can get away with less air volume. I like mine to just spit out a drop or two every second or so with just enough air pressure to clear chips out of the cutter's path. |

It matches Amazon pictures, so I'm assuming that's it source. I caught in passing, somewhere, a reference to using an aquarium pump to supply air. I'm not sure if it was just to clear chips or to power one of these. I see some cheap options ... I'm just not sure about translating GPH this context. $24 will get me one rated at 160GPH with a variable output... tempting.... |

I haven't used mine in a long time but I checked today and I have the wall regulator set at 15psi behind the mill. Don't know how to embed a short. |

You can throttle it down to just a whisp of air. Be sure to use the proper coolant with it, something like Kool-Mist diluted to the proper mix. Standard soluble oil type coolants will clog it up and aren't pleasant to inhale - you will create a cloud of vaporized coolant if you feed it too heavy. Those push connect fittings can handle all the air you can generate most likely, most are rated well over 200 PSI. |
