I need to get a 75" (or so) tv for my mom. It has a stand mount with a 60" tv now, and we'll be replacing that. The Firestick is not working, and i'd like something that will work better than that clunky POS. First, is there a way to test the internet connection that will tell me if the WiFi is good enough? I have an ORBI set up and signal strength is good according to everything i can test, but it still seems clunky and sometimes stutters. Not sure if it's related to the firestick which is an older version. It's at best 1080p, and maybe an older 720p model. Do any Smart TVs come with an actual ethernet plug in the back? There is a port in the wall just behind the TV, but it's not being used as the Firestick doesn't allow it. Seems like wired would be better than wireless, but it's not an option with my current set up. Will be in a room with a lot of ambient light, not a home theater. Would like to keep it around $1000 or so. Would like it to have decent built in speakers, but not audiophile quality. It's got to be loud and clear more than cinematic. Bluetooth compatibility for headphones would be a plus, since she is hard of hearing. She used to have something that plugged into her old TV that allowed her to use headphones but it broke and if i can get something out of the box that just works, even better. If not, any smart TV gadgets that can make it happen? Ad free would be amazing, as the less options the better. A nice clean interface is a huge plus for people who are overwhelmed by the options. I want like, Netflix, Disney, Max, and Live TV. A home screen with just those would be awesome, along with the ability to add or delete them as i switch up what i'm paying for. Any help or insight appreciated. |

50 inch ONN brand Roku TV here purchased about 3 years ago now, couldn't be happier, it was cheap, has a good picture, and does have a plug for connecting directly to ethernet which is how we run it. A gazillion shows available for free, another gazillion if you're willing to sign up for one or more of the streaming services. We have 300 mbps fiber service, but my router and laptops are all old with 10/100 chips, so I only get 100 mbps to the TV but it works great, never any lagging or interruptions. Plugged it into the ethernet, a few clicks to set it up and been watching ever since. |

Honestly Hisense and TCL are the best value for the lower end 75'' tvs. Hisense is probably the netter value of the 2 I found a 75''TCL QLED for like $600 late last year with Roku built into the tv. It is a good tv. There lower tier 75'' can be had for $500 maybe less on sale |
