I have literally never seen such a thing. It looks kinda like a C-more turned 90 degrees.

Sorry for low quality pic. I just snipped it from a YouTube video I was watching and it wasn't vey good quality there.

You are correct, It is a c-more mounted 90 degrees. Was done by competition shooters to get the dot as low as possible before more modern optics and mounts were available.

It used to be fairly common on rimfires and open guns in the early oughts. Quality MRDS kinda killed the sideways c-more.

I saw a pistol for sale recently with a Delta Point on it. Man that thing looks dumb.

I have a Leupold rifle scope that's awesome. They should probably stick to that.

90* mounted C-More.  Pretty common on Open guns back in the day.

C-More at 90 degrees to lower the height of the optic  I did something similar with a T1

I'd forgotten all about those!  Yeah, they were the hotness for a quick minute in the early 2000s, I forget who made the most popular ones.    I had worked on only a couple of guns sporting those mounts, everyone else had the traditional frame mounts.

I recently updated my old open gun from one of these. I really liked it since it put the optic very low over the slide.  Made it easy to switch between irons and the dot.

It was a bit later I think. In the early 00’s most were still vertical. I did most of my USPSA shooting after 07 and it felt like there was a definite uptick in that time.

Cmore had a huge following and I think they could have kept the market had they released some updated stuff.

I still have a couple I bought for cheap during amazonapocalypse for projects. Still sitting in a box somewhere.

Thanks I was editing the OP when someone answered already. Yeah, the video says it's 14 years old.

I had no idea that was a thing. I have never been into competition shooting, and only recently dipped my toe in. I wasn't paying attention back then.

You got me.  I thought you laid it there.

Odd way to install an optic when you can mill the slide for a dot, but you do you.

I had the same pistol, and really liked it, so your taste is good there

They fumbled the ball and then kicked it out of bounds when they tried to move into the MRDS market with their RTS.    I never owned one of those, but I know some diehard C-more customers were thoroughly disgusted with the RTS series.   I've heard more than one tale of multiple broken sights, sent back for repair, then broken again.

I've used T1s on certain Glocks for a number of years now and putting one on a 1911 was alot more problematic due to how the optic is mounted.  The Double Alpha mount was the best solution I could come up with and DA didnt even know if it would work on a railed 1911 when I asked them prior to purchase.  Works like a charm though I need to  do something with the empty dovetails.

My older open gun was built during that mess, my builder/smith recommended the traditional C-More since he had a rotation of 3 RTS sights to shoot matches at the time.  One on the gun, one spare and one back at C-More at any one time.  The old C-more was very reliable for me on the 90degree mount, but I upgraded that gun to the same mount/sight as my newer one (and had some popple holes added to make them closer in power factor to use the same ammo).

That's a big honkin optic to run on a tuned 1911 slide.  Would it be lower if mounted on the slide?
Yesterday 12:54:52 PM EDT

thats exactly what it is.

That was the way to get the optic lower to the bore back in the day.

edit: beat.

I wouldn’t use that on a milled slide.  I don’t even think you could, you’d have to machine pic slots in the side as that’s usually what those larger red dots use for a mounting system.

I’d use an SRO, 507 Comp, Defender XL.  Pick one.

Generally no minus the way KC Kustoms mounts them.   About the only other way you see a T1 on a 1911 is via a rail section on the slide.  This puts the optic higher than mine plus creates issues with slide movement due to the added weight of the optic and whatnot.  The KC method puts the optic low but you still have the mass of the optic to deal with.

I thought it was a Russian optic until you guys figured out it was a C-More. They have, or had an optic very similar to that, but it was for the side mount on the AKs. I've never seen one of those in person, but they were on a website describing all the different Russian optics. The Russians probably saw the C-Mores mounted like that in competition, and made their own version. It was released back in the 2003-2010 era.

I'd really like to see a breakthrough on gun design that allowed a low mounted non reciprocating dot.
