We are looking at a new patrol rifle round. Anyone have any experience with the Hornady 53 gr CX TAP patrol , or the 70 gr CX TAP barrier? Both are supposed to meet the FBI standards. I can’t find any real info on the CX projectile. The 53 gr has a red tip and reminds me of older varmint rounds. We are looking to change based on availability and we can readily get this ammo. It's worth it to talk to those guys. We don't use the CX round so I dont have much to offer there. |

That is a weird bullet, had to look it up. Flat tip polymer insert, looks to be solid copper bullet. Would need to hear the reasoning behind that one. Looks like it should feed fine at least. Just a weird design. Only agency I knew that used Hornady ammo was pretty small and got absorbed by a larger agency, so just not much info. Went to a Hornady shoot once but it was a long time ago. Forgot- We did use it in the sniper .308 rifles though. They do make good stuff. |
