Not sure what the heck this Walker & Williams strap was made of but it damn sure wasn't leather as advertised a couple years ago, maybe bonded leather with a laminate? Anyhow its fallen apart. Spent some Xmas Amazon bucks from the kids on a Chinese strap that is really nice and obviously real leather with suede lining. Nice looking strap. I pulled up the Nefilabata page on Amazon. I like those single upright guitar stands they have, and they have some pretty good looking straps. I've got some Fender leather straps and a few old canvas styles with the plastic quick release clip that I used to use back in the band days. Can't remember the last time I stood to play and used a strap. I sit on the bed now with my acoustic or an electric to play now by myself.

I don't know if it's marketing or what... Seems the good leatherworkers are proud to tell you which tannery their material is sourced from; Horween, Herman Oak, etc. Know the difference between full grain, top grain and genuine? Did you know 'they' make shit that's tantamount to leather plywood? |

Picked up a 3/8" hole punch from Ace which made life easier getting the Schaller straplocks installed since the strap is so thick. I've used the same 2 sets of Schallers since the late 80's or early 90's (I think?) so not worried about the holes being too big for anything else. Bought some cheap Amazon knockoffs a couple years ago for my cheaper guitars and they fell apart or wore completely through the metal, while my old Made in W. Germany Schallers still work like new. This Silver Eagle 3" strap made from cotton cinch strap I've been using since the 90's also. Took me awhile to find that Franklin Straps makes a similar 3" strap but black is unobtanium it seems. Yeah... If you're smashing leather with straplocks...  To be helpful; maybe try bigger washers. I used to be a Schaller straplock-guy... These days, I just use Fender strapblocks if deemed necessary. It's usually a weight and strap angle criteria... Was this a padded strap? Garment leather is shit for a durable strap... |

If quanity is indicative of preference; I own 8 of these. I did not pay $109/ea  ; more like $75/ea.Great blend of durability and comfort... My only bitch, is the tail after adjustment... I'm small/short and wear my guitar in a high position. I like my strap at 39"(approx.), end-to-end. I end up having to use the secondary bottom strap-hole...  I've posted about my favorite strap design before; Mountain Leatherworks, as sold through Stew-Mac in the early 90’s. This strap and straplocks are 34 years old; it has been 'the' strap for all my strats and teles.    I found/own a similar design in the Right-On R.A.S. strap. They’re nice enough I guess; probably not something I'd use straplocks on.That's what I love about the Mountain strap; it's built like a tank...more like a quality gun belt. I have a Galco belt that's 25 years old... I like simple & durable designs. |
